Position Summary This is a key leadership role responsible for management, rehabilitation, and collection of the special assets portfolio of adversely graded loans and non-ledger assets. Ensures the rehabilitation and/or collection of ledger assets and the recovery of non-ledger assets in the most timely and profitable manner. This includes lending arrangements that are both unsecured and secured by various types of collateral including real property, inventory, accounts receivable, stocks, etc. Also responsible for management of small business collection activity of BusinessLink and equipment leasing products.
Position Accountabilities
* Oversees plans, recommendations and implementation of strategic and tactical business plans to enhance the bank's management of adversely graded loans to minimize losses and maximize revenues.
* Manages directly and through subordinate managers, including selection, training, coaching, performance management and work allocation for a team of up to 60.
* May personally have direct involvement in highly complex problem loan situations, including conducting negotiations with borrowers and borrower's counsel and makes necessary judgments based on conditions presented to protect the bank's interest and achieve maximum recovery.
* May represent the bank in court on highly complex litigation and bankruptcy cases.
* Directs activities of the unit to ensure effective management and maintenance of properties including compliance with all environmental and regulatory requirements.
* Oversees the liquidation of non-real property assets.
* Provides advice and counsel to senior management in handling criticized loans.
* Manages legal and other expenses associated with assets under management.
* Develops budget for the unit and allocates funds within the budget.
* Keeps abreast of economic, industry and other business related issues to provide senior executive management with forecasts and potential problem areas. Advises senior execuitve management including the implications of economic and other issues and possible related strategic and/or tactical actions.
* Directs the preparation and maintenance of special assets reports. Oversees the preparation of periodic reports for senior execuitve management.
* Represents the bank as appropriate in its relationships with major customers, suppliers, competitors, government agencies, professional societies and similar groups.
* Participates in acquisition and growth or divestiture activities, including investigations and evaluations in accordance with bank objectives and plans.
Job Specifications
Req Education or Equivalent Experience . Bachelor's degree
Pref Education or Equivalent Experience . Master's degree
Required Experience . Minimum of fifteen years both in commercial line management as well as special asset roles.
Field of Experience . Thorough knowledge of commercial lending policies, procedures, practices, documentation and legal and regulatory requirements. . Thorough knowledge of commercial credit including analysis of complex financial statements, cash flow statements, projections, etc. . Complete knowledge of bankruptcy and foreclosure issues in all areas served.
