Department Overview Global Financial Risk Management is responsible for financial risk management within the Barclays group for Barclays Capital clients. Main Function Exposure management of Barclays Capital?s Single Name Inventory (SNI) portfolio. The role will involve a significant amount of front office contact as part of the day-to-day management of SNI exposures and limit excesses. The candidate will also play a leading role in the strategic direction of policies and procedures, including the development of strategic IT systems. Main Duties The candidate will be responsible for the exposure management of inventory positions (SNI). SNI includes, amongst others, bonds, notes, CLNs, ABS, CDOs, TRS and CDS (single name, index, tranche, basket, and nth-to-default). The main responsibilities include: · Maintaining close relationships with key trading desks to understand business strategy, infrastructure support needs and limit requirements · Management and resolution of excess positions arising in the US · Co-ordination of SNI limit requests and approvals · Liaison with senior credit officers and SNI management colleagues in the EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions · Participating in the development of policies and procedures. Attending Investment Committee meetings with GFRM Managing Director and ensuring approved limits are set up correctly as well as liaison with Product Control where appropriate. The role forms part of Traded Products Exposure Management (TPEM), the team within GFRM Credit responsible for the measurement, reporting and exposure management of all traded products within Barclays Capital. The SNI role in New York is a new position within TPEM to support the expansion of Barclays Capital business in the Americas region. Other TPEM teams are: · Exotic and Structured Product Risking · Commodities and Power & Gas · Traded Products Credit Control · Basel II and Projects · Data Integrity Reporting Person Requirements Honours degree standard or relevant professional qualification. · Sanctioning and managing inventory exposures within a major investment bank. · Working directly with commercial traders and sales people · Working with financial risk management and control systems · In-depth knowledge of all forms of inventory products including ABS, CDOs, CDS products, TRS and CLNs · Ability to think and make decisions under pressure and under short time-frames · Very competent at communicating risk methodologies and policies/ procedures with commercial staff as well as with other departments · Maturity and ability to execute a control function with commercial staff Capable of detecting inefficiencies and proposing solutions. Preferred: Graduate in a mathematical finance, financial engineering, or equivalent subject · Exposure management of traded products including derivatives (vanilla and structured), FX, money markets and repos. · Corporate and/or financial institution credit analysis and sanctioning. Potential Future Exposure (PFE) measurement
