The Service Asset & Configuration Manager (SACM) is a key position in driving maturity of the Configuration Management System (CMS) as a key component of a comprehensive IT decision support system. Working closely with process owners and stakeholders the SACM will be responsible for the population and continued accuracy of the CMS. This position accepts customer requirements and then, drives the designs, technical specifications, and validation of data against the requirements for CMDB and Asset DB information. This is a key position on the OAI-sys Service Management team responsible for design, population, and accuracy of the Configuration Management System (CMS) used to enable BMC Remedy ITSM as an effective decision support and asset tracking system. Key responsibilities of the position include: - Evaluates existing Asset and Configuration Management systems, and manages the design, deployment, and management of new/ improved systems for efficiency and effectiveness with the implementation of automated discovery and BMC Atrium. - Responsible enforcement of Configuration Management policy, and design of Configuration Management processes based on ITIL frameworks promoting the growth and accuracy of the CMS. - Directs the team responsible for the development and support of trusted (CMS) source integrations and ARS developed applications used in the collection of CMDB source (non-discoverable) data. Prepares technical solutions and specifications for ( off-shore) developers. - Implements and supports the (BMC Atrium) CMDB / Asset DB infrastructure. Maintains compliance and product currency within the BSM Interoperability Framework. - Leverages the use of the Definitive Media Library (DML) as an effective method of normalizing external source data into the CMDB - Responsible for establishing and managing configuration management metrics and KPI-s to drive continuous improvement into the decision support capabilities enabled by a robust and mature CMS. - Operates within the BSM Program management methodology and execution model in accomplishing goals. - Builds and leverages effective alliances with ITSM process teams and portfolio owners. - Ensures that all stakeholders are sufficiently involved in the configuration management process. Experience and Qualifications: Required: * 5+ years of ITSM Process stakeholder, consultant, owner, or manager experience * Solid understanding of data structures and ETL processes * Proven leadership skills * Experience in the design and implementation of web based systems * Broad knowledge of IT infrastructure. * Excellent organizational, planning, written and oral communication skills. * Detail oriented * Savvy with MS Office, Visio, and SharePoint * Batch scripting skills ( i.e. Perl, Java ) Preferred Qualifications: * ITIL V3 Foundations Certification * BMC Remedy ITSM, ARS, BMC Atrium CMDB administration level of experience * Working level understanding of the CDM (Common Data Model). Summary The chosen candidate will lead the development of the main IT asset and service respository contributing as a key player in the adoption of Business Systemns Management at Travelers. This individual has the responsibility to build and support the Configuration Managment System which serves as the authoritative source of IT Asset information consumed by It Service Managment processes.
