Title: Senior SEC Accounting Associate Location: NJ-Jersey City The Corporate Financial Reporting group provides "best in class" reporting to both our internal and external clients. Best in class reporting includes informative, accurate, reliable and timely financial information that can be used by management to make sound financial decisions; for analysts to assess the Firm's financial position; investors to make informed decisions and regulators to supervise and examine us appropriately.
As a Corporate Financial Reporting ("CFR") SEC Reporting Associate you will be a member of the team responsible for preparing and filing the Corporation's quarterly and annual SEC reports, and helping to ensure that the Firm's disclosures comply with all U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission ("SEC") and/or U.S. GAAP requirements and continue to be deemed "best-in-class." Specifically, the roles responsbilities are: * Preparation of financial reports filed with the SEC * Work with the applicable CFR team, Corporate Accounting Policies and applicable LOB/Functional groups to prepare financial reports (e.g., Annual Report/Form 10-K, Form 10-Q, Quarterly Earnings Release and Financial Supplement, Form 8-K). * Participate in the review of financial reports for compliance with accounting and reporting standards, perform variance analysis, and XBRL. * Help complete the PwC Financial Statement Disclosures checklist ("FSDCL") and the FSDCL Update checklist for completeness and accuracy regarding disclosures. Also, review PwC Data Lines, FASB, SEC, and other technical sources for new requirements subsequent to the issuance date(s) of the FSDCL's. * Review FASB, ACIPA and SEC websites for technical updates * Assist with the implementation of new accounting and reporting standards * Review technical pronouncements for new requirements. * Work with the applicable CFR team, Corporate Accounting Policies and applicable LOB/Functional groups to implement new requirements, including XBRL tagging. * Assist with updating JPMC's Plain English Disclosures checklists. * Actively participate in the CFR/RFR/CAP technical update meetings * Research accounting and reporting issues * Perform technical research as necessary. * Review peer disclosures and make recommendations to enhance JPMC's disclosure. * Help to ensure Corporate Financial Reporting's compliance with the Firm's Sarbanes-Oxley program * Develop and maintain SOX controls and procedures for the integrity of various SEC Reporting disclosures, including the handshakes with providers of information into the SEC team. * Recommend improvements to the applicable internal controls and work with the Finance SOX Compliance Team to implement controls and perform control self-assessments ("CSAs"). * Assist the Finance SOX Compliance Team with developing and implementing SOX training for CFR. * On a rotation basis, responsible for computing shares outstanding for the Corporation's basic and diluted earnings per share calculations, as well as preparing the related monthly and quarterly disclosures and supporting workpapers. * Assist with the review of various financial statements (e.g., benefit plans, broker-dealers and clearing entities) and non-U.S. filings for compliance with the financial reporting requirements * Assist with the review of financial reports for compliance with accounting and reporting standards, including SEC Form 11-K requirements for the 401(k) Plan. * Work with Legal and other units as applicable regarding non-U.S. filings. * MBA or BS in Accounting (CPA a plus) * Good technical accounting skills. * Good verbal, written and listening skills. * The ability to work in teams and to interface with senior management and staff * Proficiency in computer navigation and Microsoft environment * Good organizational and time management skills * Ability to work independently and keep all parties apprised of developments.
