Description The Senior Risk Management Analyst (SRMA) position will be located in our New York office and is a newly created role that is responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and reporting on FBR's market, credit, and liquidity risk exposure. In this role, the SRMA will work closely with FBR's Director of Risk Management and have significant interaction with members of FBR's senior management team. The position will consist of three principal responsibilities which are outlined below. Firm wide market, credit and liquidity risk The SRMA will oversee FBR's firm-wide risk management system, including the models and methodologies used in the system to estimate risk. Responsibilities will include: · Monitoring firm-wide trading desk exposures versus risk limits assigned by FBR's Risk Committee · Monitoring credit and liquidity risk, both at the trading desk and firm-wide levels · Identifying large, concentrated exposures; providing the Director of Risk Management, Chief Financial Officer, and business leaders with timely, proactive information on the nature and extent of the exposure · Analyzing results and substantiate changes in various firm-wide risk measures, such as Value at Risk · Assisting head of Risk Management in carrying out risk-related meetings with trading desk management, FBR's Risk Committee, and FBR's Board of Directors · Reviewing trading desk performance vs. established risk measures, such as Value at Risk Client Portfolio Analysis The SRMA will work closely with FBR's newly launched Prime Brokerage business on the analysis of market, credit, and liquidity risk in their client portfolios. Responsibilities will include: · Analyzing market and credit risk on prospective customer portfolios to help the head of Risk Management and business leaders to determine appropriate leverage and risk limit levels · Monitoring existing market and credit risk versus assigned risk limits · Assessing the quality and integrity of pricing used to value client positions · Monitoring concentration risk and large P&L moves in client portfolios and ensure business managers are taking appropriate action Capital Allocation The SRMA will work closely with the head of Risk Management and Chief Financial Officer to: · Establish risk adjusted return measures and reporting processes to help senior management understanding the quality of business results · Review business unit capital proposals, as provided through the annual budgeting process · Review business unit results and analyze variances
Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field. MBA preferred · Minimum five years of progressive financial services experience to include experience in risk management and risk modeling · Thorough knowledge of financial risk modeling and analysis · Excellent written and verbal communication skills · High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
