Senior Manager-Investment Liaisons

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
This position manages the US Investment Liaison teams and has responsibility for the GICS Investment Liaison functions globally. Investment Liaisons (ILs) work directly with Investment Staff (including Portfolio Managers, Investment Analysts, Research Analysts) and act as the primary point of contact between portfolio managers and internal and external contacts in support of investment portfolios. ILs are responsible for managing the collection of investment related information and data while ensuring the integrity of information used by portfolio managers in support of investment decision-making and/or information sent to external clients.

As part of the GICS leadership team, the Sr. Manager, Investment Liaisons,provides strategic and tactical functional leadership, proactively identifies business needs for customers, and establishes direction and development to the department management team. The Sr. Manager sets customer driven goals and expectations for the department and provides feedback to management team, sponsors and oversees department wide projects, providing business and technical expertise, resource prioritization and setting budget/scope/schedule.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Management:
* Establishes strategic business and systems direction for the functional area
* Translates firm and division (GICS) strategy into actionable goals and objectives for the functional area
* Works with internal customers, establishing strong relationships, to understand their current and future needs. Proactively leads the development of process and procedure and defines resources and utilities needed to support business requirements
* Acts as a project sponsor for key department systems and business process projects, and manages the project leaders for the initiatives
* Participates in industry working groups and builds relationships with peers in other firms to help define industry standards
Process & Risk Management:
* Provides thought leadership surrounding the process and risk management obligations for the function.
* Responsible for ensuring policies, processes, internal controls and related performance metrics are established
* Ensures current process and risk management practices in accordance with BPI and regulatory requirements to ensure the function is in compliance
* Proactively identifies emerging risks and controls needed within the function and provides a framework to minimize risk and errors. Implements change where appropriate
* Develops and implements business continuity plans as required
People Management & Development:
* Leads the recruitment, management and training and development of managers and associates to build and develop a high performing team to deliver on and exceed customer expectations.
* Sets clear functional goals and expectations - provides a clear mission and shared direction, motivates and engages team members, and mobilizes them to achieve functional and department goals
* Ensures managers and associate are receiving honest and constructive feedback and regular developmental coaching focused on improving the overall performance of the team and individual associate performance
* Meets regularly with key clients to gather feedback on performance and support needs
* The manager is responsible for creating a collaborative team dynamic that is focused on inclusive decision making, enabling open and honest dialogue
* Oversees and maintains the functional team budget
* Partners with HR to ensure that comp levels are competitive with the local market and oversees annual compensation process for the functional area
Customers:
* Responsible for driving the day-to-day business unit results and meeting key customer objectives of quality, efficiency and effectiveness. This includes anticipating and meeting customer needs and driving the processes and measures to ensure that needs are being met and new business trends are incorporated into business planning
* The manager is responsible for continuous business process improvement -- utilizing key methodologies that create better customer and associate experiences, and leverage internal, external and competitor best practices.
* The manager is a champion for change and communicates effectively to the management team and associates the rationale and value of the change process to ensure a successful implementation and adoption within the organization.
* Shares information gathered from Investment Teams across wider GICS Team with an emphasis on exceeding customer service requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:

College degree and 6 years of related work experience, or Associate degree and 8 years related work experience, or High School diploma/equivalent and 10 years related work experience
