Senior Financial Analyst
There is currently a vacancy for one permanent Senior Financial Analyst in our Financial Planning & Analysis branch at the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board, located at our Head Office at 200 Front Street West in Toronto. As a Senior Financial Analyst you will provide decision support, business and financial analysis expertise, and advice to WSIB management on fiscal matters, business planning processes and activities. You will provide a level of financial analysis and reporting that will assist WSIB in meeting its corporate objective of financial sustainability. You have a proven ability to assume a leadership role in not only identifying variances to budget, but also be able to both qualitatively and quantitatively explain to senior and line management the reasons for the variances. Responsibilities: - Perform analysis and prepare various financial and business activity reports to identify trends and project information such as the monthly/quarterly Internal Financial Report, which is reviewed by Executive Committee, Audit & Finance Committee and the Board of Directors. - Forge, develop and maintain effective working relationships with the various divisions and senior management, line management, and associates. - Forecasting, budgeting, and analyzing financial statement items is required to provide full disclosure to senior management; necessary for decision support. Requirements: - Knowledge of theory and practical application of business management methods (finance, economics, statistical analysis) including performance measures, indicators and outcomes and benchmarking to develop and apply processes to measure the effectiveness of programs and services. - Knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of business/financial planning and management and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). - Knowledge of business and financial skills in cost recovery and competitive environments to develop product costing, pricing models and alternative approaches to recovering costs. - Analytical and problem solving skills to critically analyze and evaluate a wide range of initiatives, issues, methods and processes to provide advice and recommendations to WSIB management - Interpersonal skills and leadership skills to partner with staff and senior management to provide expertise, consultation and advice on business and financial planning issues and activities. - Strong technical capabilities in MicroSoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.
