Requirements: Minimum Qualifications * A degree in Banking and Finance, Economics, Accounting or any other related field required. * A postgraduate degree/professional qualification is an added advantage. * Must have at least 10 years of experience in a residential mortgage for a commercial bank at a senior management level including sales, underwriting, operations, servicing strategy and secondary markets. * Sound understanding of regulatory requirements including practices, processes and systems relating to mortgage underwriting and operations. * Sound understanding of the mortgage market and excellent knowledge of current mortgage products and services and underwriting practices in the market. * Sound knowledge and experience with all facets of Secondary Markets including investor guidelines.
Additional Desired Abilities * Mentoring and Coaching skills. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. * Knowledge of commercial law and recovery practices. * Strong Leadership Skills. * Analytical and problem solving skills * Must have attention to detail and be result oriented. * Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision and demonstrate a good level of maturity Job Description: Overview: The Senior Director of Residential Mortgage, reporting to the Director Consumer Finance Division will be responsible for the company's residential loan business including full P&L, residential mortgage sales/origination, underwriting, marketing, warehousing, shipping/delivery, secondary market operations and servicing strategy. Oversees the origination or purchase of residential loans at a price consistent with market conditions and directs the marketing of loans to institutional investors or agencies. Ensures loans originated meet investor requirements and are processed efficiently and accurately and that loan closings are supported by appropriate documentation. Maintains competitive position by developing new business and markets and monitoring competition. Recommends guidelines to top management for loan origination strategy, portfolio mix, loan policies and quality. Keeps informed of any changes government regulations concerning residential mortgage lending.
Key Responsibilities * Responsible for P&L, defining and implementing mortgage banking strategies to support the Bank's growth objectives. * Responsible for core mortgage operations of the bank such as mortgage sales, secondary marketing, underwriting and general operations for conforming as well as jumbo residential mortgage products. * Establishing and deepening relationships with the key management of the Bank's mortgage customers (ie retail branch network). * Supervising and monitoring mortgage credit review and performance analysis. * Design of unique mortgage products and servicing strategy that will meet the Bank's defined target market. * Monitoring and managing the held portfolio and evaluating M&A opportunities to include the due diligence process. * Responsible for all secondary markets operations including managing the loan portfolio to optimize profits while minimizing losses.
