LivingSocial is looking for a Senior MySQL Database Administrator with a concrete understanding of how to optimize and maintain scalable databases.
It’s a big job, and an important one to LivingSocial. We’re not saying it’s going to be easy. But if you enjoy interacting with people from across the world, while having a major impact on a growing company, this position just might be perfect for you.
Responsibilities
Deploy, configure, and monitor numerous, large scale MySQL instances
Monitor and optimize MySQL database performance and capacity planning
Develop and support MySQL database replication across multiple data centers
Troubleshoot database issues, maintain database systems availability and scalability
Develop and optimize database design for new applications
Work closely with the dev team on applications performance
Educate developers in the creation of high performing application code
Core Skills/Qualifications
Developer friendly
Expert knowledge of MySQL and InnoDB internals
Expert knowledge of SQL
Proficiency with iostat, tcpdump, and other systems tools
Proficiency with Maatkit, and other supporting software suites
Proven track of managing data and replication between multiple data centers
General programming and scripting abilities
Experience working in complex 24/7 production environments
Bachelors Degree
Desired Skills
Experience working with Ruby On Rails/MySQL in high-performance environments
Expert in transaction processing systems.
Deep knowledge of Redis, BigTable, HBase, or a similar NoSQL database in production
Expert knowledge of MySQL HA Solutions
