Position Description:
The purpose of this position is to facilitate the analysis, design, creation and implementation of system solutions in the most effective and efficient manner to meet business needs. This position requires working closely with service areas, Internal Wholesaling, BSST, IT and Senior Management to scope opportunities, build out applications/scripts/reports and maintain all existing applications/scripts/reports. % TIME DUTIES 65% Project Management & Execution ? Coordinate, implement and/or manage the delivery of projects related to system changes and service enhancements. ? Develop, test, debug, maintain and document all components of information systems applications/tools and/or scripts. ? Employ programming and design techniques that ensure adherence to software development standards, performance efficiency, reliable and easily maintainable code.
25% Business Analysis ? Evaluate all viable business solution options and identify pros and cons of each option as they relate to system processing, business processing, time, cost and benefits; and recommend the best possible solution with business benefits and estimates. ? Gather business requirements and develop business specifications for system changes required for complex business solutions and service center enhancements. ? Understand the inter-relationships between the various business areas and systems in order to recommend and justify changes needed for system updates based on changes made in other areas (e.g., Quality Assurance, Transactional processing automation, product launches, accounting, etc.) ? Provide training assistance to end users for new systems and enhancements.
10% Other ? Provides timely and effective response and follow-through in the resolution of production, system availability and response time issues. ? Other duties as assigned by management
Position Requirements C. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE (Indicate the minimum formal education, certifications, and prior work experience required to perform the job.)
College degree plus 2 years business related experience - or high school plus 6 years of business related experience. Winrunner scripting experience Advanced (2 years) MS Access and SQL Service Application development Advanced (4 years) Query building in Cognos & SQL Advanced (4 years) Visual Basic experience Medium/Advanced (2 years) Experience supporting integrated business systems and working closely with functional users to resolve system issues.
D. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS (Indicate the level of proficiency and complexity of knowledge/skills required to perform the job, e.g., manual/technical skills, equipment used, communication skills, professional knowledge, etc.)
Strong analytical and problem solving skills ability to understand impacts of complex changes, formulate testing methodologies to minimize risks and recommend appropriate business or systems solutions.
Demonstrate strong project management and organizational skills. Ability to communicate information of a complex nature to all levels of the organization (written and verbal) in easy to understand business language.
Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities and adjust work accordingly to meet target deadlines. Possess strong negotiation and consultative skills.
Ability to conduct a business value analysis and justify the business benefits for system changes. A strong knowledge of the Annuity business, processes and products is a plus.
Proficiency in using Industry tools for software development, business requirements definition and traceability, creation and executing test cases, and management of defects is a plus.
Familiarization with Microsoft Suite Tools, namely Microsoft Project, Visio and Word. Must be an expert in Excel with developing complex reporting workbooks and marcos.
Detailed knowledge in data architecture, database design, and database technologies.
Must be customer focused and have a solid understanding of business requirements.
Ability to design and code complex projects.
