Senior Analyst
Our client, an international law firm with offices throughout the world is seeking a Senior Analyst to join their firm in the New York City headquarters.
Essential Functions:
Help lead in the analysis and presentation of market, industry and geography research combining internal data with external sources on Firm strategic initiatives.
Performs ad hoc analysis and research on client, practice and office developmental opportunities.
Independently scopes, manages and leads time sensitive projects from start to finish, in a dynamic environment with limited direction.
Conducts Peer firm analysis such as league table rankings, international activities and client relationships to support various practice and office initiatives.
Follows and tracks trends in the legal industry as it relates to business development efforts across practices and offices.
Prepares company profiles including background information, advisory relationships, and market intelligence and connect to the Firm experiences and relationships.
Develops, coordinates and executes domestic and international practice and office business development efforts and initiatives.
Analyzes, summarizes and presents analysis on capital markets (public equity and debt offerings) deals and M&A transactions by company, region, industry or peer firms.
Develops knowledge and understanding of external data sources for use in Business Development projects.
Monitors and tracks news developments across industries and geographic regions as it relates to Firm practice and offices.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Savvy user of internet to research, gather and distill information from variety of online resources
"Interest in following business news events"
Have a strong understanding of news and trends in the global M&A, private equity, capital markets (equity and debt), and project finance area
Strong analytical skills---ability to synthesize, interpret, and summarize relevant information from various sources and share insights in an actionable recommendation
Basic acumen of businesses financials; understanding of SEC filings a plus
More importantly, have an innate desire and curiosity to learn about business, industries and markets
Strong working knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel a MUST; Experience with Access database a plus
Knowledge or experience with Capitaliq, Mergermarket, Thomson One, BoardEx or other competitive/market intelligence tools a plus
Previous experience in consulting, research or investment banking preferred though not required
Independent, Self-Motivated, Detail oriented and ability to take initiative
Self motivated and able to lead and work independently on projects and team as well as support team members in major initiatives as required
Resourceful internet research skills utilizing various online sources
Strong project management skills with experience in managing multiple projects at once.
Will manage 2-3 Jr. Analysts
Education & Prior Experience:
Bachelor's Degree
MBA is a plus but not a must.
Minimum of 2 to 5 years experience in consulting, market research, investment banking , corporate business development group.
