Job Requirements
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Our senior accountant position resides within our Accounting Close & Statutory Reporting team. This team is responsible for coordinating and executing the quarterly accounting close process, statutory-basis regulatory filings, audited statutory-basis financial statements & statutory MD&A preparation, consolidated and business unit statutory-basis financial analysis, and executing various process improvement projects
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Perform tasks as part of the preparation of the statutory financial statements for domestic insurance companies on a quarterly basis including NAIC and various state filings.
* Participate in the quarterly financial close process which includes the preparation of journal entries and execution of close process and SOX and MAR controls.
* Assist in the implementation of statutory accounting principles.
* Work with the external auditors during the preparation of the annual statutory audits of the domestic insurance companies
* Assist in the preparation of various surveys and information requests from outside groups such as AM Best, Moody's, ACLI, etc. and from state insurance departments.
* Help maintain and improve internal control systems to ensure a successful outcome of SOX/MAR testing and opinion.
* Participate in special projects related to the financial close process and internal/external financial reporting making process improvements.
* Research, analyze, recommend, and implement solutions to complex problems.

Additional Details
*
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
* Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance is required.
* 2-3 years of relevant business and accounting and financial reporting experience.
* Either a current CPA or pursuing a CPA license
