Our client, Large Public International Drilling Contractor, seeking a SEC Financial Reporting Manager for their Central Houston offices. Job Type: Direct Hire Hours : 7:30 - 5:30 M-Th 7:30 - 11:30 F Job Duties : BASIC FUNCTION: Manage the day-to-day operations of the reporting department that prepares and distributes various internal and external financial reports. Keep abreast of financial accounting and reporting updates to authoritative GAAP, changes in Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations and company events.
DUTIES: AUTHORITY 1. Reports: Coordinate the preparation and distribution of all internal and external financial reports that the department is required to prepare, including SEC filings, CFO Package, benefit plan financial statements and Board of Directors and Audit Committee materials. Coordinate with other departments on assignments and projects that are assigned to their areas. Prepare specific sections of management reports, consolidated financial statements and footnotes, and government and SEC required reports. Insure that all reports are correct, presentable and distributed as required. I 2. Supervision: Oversee and supervise (about 4 in this area) 3. New Statements: Keep abreast of financial accounting and reporting updates to authoritative GAAP, changes in SEC regulations and company events. Prepare memos summarizing the effects of accounting and reporting updates on the companys financial reporting and provide guidance for implementing new accounting procedures as required by new accounting literature. Insure that all required changes to report format and information required in reports, etc. are accomplished. 4. Special Projects 5. Liaison: Function as liaison with outside auditors in preparation of annual report, review of consolidated financial reports, audit of benefit plan financial statements, answering questions and furnishing information upon request.

Experience: 5 years or more professional experience, including a minimum of 5 years accounting experience with at least 4 years of public accounting and supervisory experience.
SKILLS: Ability to use spreadsheets, word processing, operating systems, database and communications software programs effectively. Ability to effectively research accounting issues. Strong organizational skills.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Good oral and written communications skills; possess high level of integrity, ingenuity and initiative. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and flexibility to work hours needed to meet deadlines.

INGENUITY: Ability to delegate and work effectively with others. Develop more efficient ways of working with the information and compiling reports. Exercises creative thinking and continually improve the quality of financial reports.
DECISION MAKING: Determines priorities for subordinates. Makes recommendation as to which applicant to hire. Makes decisions as to how to account for new updates to authoritative GAAP and new company activity. EDUCATION: Bachelor degree with a major in Accounting or equivalent; CPA required.
