Job Title: Revenue Analyst
SUMMARY
The Revenue Analyst position will be responsible for ensuring the accurate recording of all revenue-related transactions in accordance with GAAP. The position will have a strong knowledge of revenue recognition in a multi-element environment and will report to the Revenue Accounting Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the monthly and quarterly close processes for specific deferred revenue and revenue accounts including the preparation of journal entries and monthly account reconciliations.
Assist with the preparation of financial and management reporting packages.
Support quarterly audits and ensure audit schedules are prepared and reviewed by management in a timely manner.
Support SOX compliance including monitoring and updating policies.
Provide analytical revenue and deferred revenue management reporting including ad hoc analyses.
Have knowledge about the authoritative revenue pronouncements including SAB 104, EITF 01-9, 00-21 and 08-1, and overall understanding of general accounting concepts and requirements.
Foster proactive working relationships with cross-functional organizations including A/R, G/L, FP&A, IT and Marketing.
Participate in new product launch and system enhancement teams as necessary by attending meetings, communicating new product information to team members and testing.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
Detail orientated with excellent analytical skills to evaluate high transactional volume and interested in identifying and fixing problems.
Excellent communication, organizational, multi-tasking and problem solving skills are required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in accounting.
3-5 years of general accounting or public accounting experience is required with an emphasis in revenue accounting.
Thorough understanding of GAAP.
Experience with an ERP system is preferred.
Experience with a revenue management system is a plus.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS
CPA preferred
SKILLS REQUIRED
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group. Ability to communicate and resolve issues in a direct and concise manner with poise and tact. Written communications should be detailed and thorough.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Candidate should be detailed oriented and have a solid understanding of financial statements and integrated financial systems. The candidate should be proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to understand and effectively apply technical accounting guidance centered around revenue recognition as it relates to hardware and software sales, as well as services and distributor arrangements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT: Use of computer for extended periods.
WORK SCHEDULES / HOURS: Business operations hours; and may involve additional time as project timelines required.
