Eastern Bank is looking for an experienced Residential Mortgage Underwriter for our Middleboro, Massachusetts location. Candidates for this position must have solid knowledge of residential mortgage banking and strong mortgage underwriting guidelines background. This position is authorized for independent lending authority up to FNMA /FHLMC lending limits. If underwriter is a duly authorized D/E FHA lender then FHA county limits also apply as well. Responsibilties include: * Working independently to review loans for eligibility within the bank's lending authority as well as secondary market /investor guidelines. Insure compliance with all bank policies and procedures. * Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of all investor and program guidelines to ensure loan is saleable to selected investor. * Managing underwriting of files in a timely fashion in order to attain required turn times * Updating file status in system as well as maintain comprehensive notes to file. * Maintaining a through knowledge of all product and underwriting guidelines as directed by Eastern Bank and its numerous investors * Maintaining a strong working knowledge of the banks loan processing system. * Ensuring quality service and adherence to regulatory requirements including but not limited to Fair Credit Reporting, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Flood Insurance and OFAC. * Superior communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required * Ability to work independently and to meet deadlines with minimal supervison is critical * Strong problem resolution skills needed Required Experience
