Exelon Energy is in the process of re-structuring the business and integrating more closely with the companys wholesale power marketing organization. During this integration new systems are being implemented throughout Exelon Energy and all business processes are being redefined.
The Quantitative Analyst is an integral part of Exelon Energys product strategy and pricing process. One of the positions primary functions is to actively support the Sales and Marketing team by creating models, refining existing systems, tools and business processes to support retail deal valuation, risk control, billing and operations.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Analyst is expected to: - Develop expert-level knowledge of the Exelon Energy deal pricing system, and contribute to ongoing enhancement, validation and implementation of the system to meet the evolving business objectives. - Design tests and execute rigorous validation of new models and systems; develop proof-of-concept tools to test out new analysis approaches. - Enhance and validate automated daily portfolio and risk management reports. - Perform modeling & analysis, business process analysis & design in support of portfolio management, valuation, develop and apply knowledge of portfolio & risk modeling for a wide variety of assets and trade types. - Provide hands-on consultative support to sales representatives in pricing engine updates as well as assist middle and back office in the deal capturing & risk management tasks. - Prepare & deliver training for business users. - Collaborate with Exelon IT to specify business functional requirements for production systems,
In this position you will be expected to understand the complexity of the wholesale pricing process as well as the intricacies of the retail product pricing process. This position will also have a key accountability for working with the structuring analysts in the development of complex tools and models to support load forecasting, new product offering and other adhoc analysis. You will work closely with the Wholesale Trading Group and the Retail organization in every facet of the business from product development, sales, pricing and billing.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment is a must.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Minimum: - Requires an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline. Relevant work experience is preferred. - Energy industry experience and a high comfort level with various modeling approaches (Monte Carlo simulation, stochastic time series, dynamic / linear programming, optimization, etc.) are important. - Candidate should understand or be able to quickly master fundamental industry concepts including option valuation, position management and hedging. - Computer programming and database skills for model prototyping & report development are expected, for example VBA, C++, MATLAB, SAS, SQL, Oracle, and Microsoft BI (Analysis Services/Reporting Services). - Proficiency with Excel & Access is expected. - Prior experience developing software requirements, designing conceptual data models, databases & system architecture, and user interfaces, etc. is a major plus. - Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. - The candidate must be able to seamlessly collaborate with traders, portfolio managers, and IT staff. - The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong quantitative & financial analysis capabilities coupled with the ability to work effectively to meet tight deadlines
Preferred: 1) Masters or Advanced degree in finance, economics, mathematics, science or engineering. 2) 3-5 years experience in the energy industry.
