Equal Employment Statement PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION This analyst position requires balancing the complexity of in-depth analysis with a customer-centric approach to identifying practical business needs. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the financial and quantitative analysis community within Exelon Generation Companys Power Team and Exelon Energy. Power Team, the companys wholesale power marketing and trading organization, is responsible for optimizing the profitability of a growing portfolio of assets and load obligations as well as the implementation of risk management objectives. Exelon Energy is an unregulated retail energy provider focused on retail electric and natural gas customers.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Item Accountability 1 Performs analysis supporting hedge and trading strategies, deal valuation, risk management, and financial planning. 2 Enhances an integrated set of tools for analyzing Exelon margin and risk, the Power Team Portfolio Decision System. 3 Collaborates with the the Tradefloor to develop rapid prototype models and proof-of-concept demonstration systems to test out new analysis approaches. 4 Executes rigorous validation and testing of quantitative models, and design and implement robust business processes for numerous users. 5 Collaborates with Exelon IT to specify business requirements to turn prototypes into operational systems and ensure proper implementation.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Minimum: Undergraduate degree in math, engineering, physics statistics or equivalent. Three to five years experience in a financial or quantitative analysis function. High comfort level with various modeling environments (Monte Carlo, dynamic programming, tree based, etc.) is necessary. Demonstrates strong quantitative analysis capabilities coupled with the ability to work under tight deadlines. Demonstrated strong teamwork skills with self-motivation to achieve success in a rapidly evolving environment. Able to quickly master industry fundamental concepts including option valuation, deal evaluation, position management and hedging. Strong organization and communication skills are required. Computer programming skills for model prototyping are expected, for example VBA, C, C++, Matlab or other statistical packages. Preferred: Prior energy industry experience with demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the wholesale electricity business and the North American energy market infrastructure. Prior experience developing software requirements, designing conceptual data models & system architecture, and user interfaces, etc. is a major plus. Database design & data transport skills (SQL, Oracle/Unix, TOAD)
