The individual will partner and liaison with Business Units to minimize corporation's property tax liability, increasing shareholder value, interpret tax policy, procedure, law, etc. in order to answer questions, prevent and solve problems, provide direction, ensure tax compliance, promote understanding and implement change, and mentor and supervise Tax Accountant’s to share technical expertise. Monitors state and local personal property tax returns prepared by internal staff. Responsible for maximizing appeal opportunities and researching new and additional tax incentives available.
Ensures timely and accurate filing of United States, Canadian, state, and local property tax returns.
Maintains supporting accounts and records, including interaction with corporate accounting to ensure proper reporting of tax information.
Participates in tax planning. Leads special studies to determine tax implications of company operations.
Directs tax research for United States and Canadian stores.
Directs research and/or partner with other departments on new company initiatives.
Completes special requests from Director and/or other departments.
Selects, develops, and motivates assigned staff.
Reports to Director - Indirect Tax.
Accountable for the management of a department or functional group through subordinate supervisors/managers and for all personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.
