Opportunity
The Sr. Cost Engineer will develop, establish, and maintain all aspects of the cost-engineering / cost control effort on one or more of the larger, more complex and demanding projects under the program. Generates cost engineering/control deliverables including preparation of budgets, tracking of actual work costs against budgets, performing variance analysis studies, and updating of weekly operating reports. Duties will include change order estimating, subcontract budget control, field activity measurement and forecasting, and oversight of invoicing operations. Performance of project control duties will to be conducted utilizing internal PRISM, PWorks and WebPCS tools , prime-contract software, and third-party software.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Provides guidance, direction, and specialized assistance for the resolution of difficult and complex project cost engineering problems. Interfaces with clients, attends regular meetings, and provides statistical reports.
-Provides project and company management with the necessary tools for project cost engineering and control. May participate in the development of the work breakdown structure, interfacing with all affected departments.
-Accumulates and accesses historical data, such as performance experience, for use in maintaining a realistic basis for future cost forecasting.
-Analyze, evaluate, forecast, and report cost status against an established baseline budget. Assesses the impact(s) of design/construction changes and schedule slippages. Keeps project and company management fully informed.
-Customizes project control systems to meet specific project requirements.
-Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications: Requires 4-year degree in Engineering or Construction Management or Business (or related field).
Requires 5-8 years cost engineering-control experience in engineering, procurement, construction, and construction management.
Requires proficient PC skills including proficiency in other software used in the Project Controls Department.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES :
Requires basic engineering knowledge in electrical, mechanical, civil, or a related field. Proficient PC skills including a proficiency in various software used in the Project Controls Department, such as Excel, Primavera, and Document and Materials Controls System (DMCS). Proven leadership capability, as well as familiarity with industry practices is required.
