President, Mutual Fund Product Center
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides leadership to and assumes bottom line accountability for the Mutual Fund Product Center of First Investors which includes: the Equities and Fixed Income investment and portfolio management areas, Administrative Data Management (“ADM”), the Transfer Agent for the Funds and Fund Accounting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Investment and Portfolio Management
Oversees the Investment and Portfolio Management areas. With the Directors of Equities and Fixed Income, develops investment strategies to attain or exceed corporate goals.
Communicates with the Board of Directors to keep it up-to-date on all major developments, including timely discussion of potential developments, fosters effective relations with stakeholders and the communities served by the Corporation.
Acts as a key contact point and spokesperson for Fund Board of Trustees.
Leads decision-making regarding the hiring, retention and, if necessary, termination of all third-party subadvisors.
Administrative Data Management (Mutual Fund Transfer Agency)
Oversees the operations of the mutual fund transfer agency including Client Relations, Administration, Operations and Internal Control.
Sets direction with the Senior Vice President to ensure strategic and business goals are met through automation and efficiencies.
Fund Accounting
Oversees the Fund Accounting functions that include annual and semi-annual reports to shareholders, tax returns and all required filings; daily NAV (Net Asset Value) calculations and dividend availability calculations.
In conjunction with the Treasurer of FIMCO, prepares reports, calculations and analysis for Board of Directors.
General
Acts as chief spokesperson on investment management issues on behalf of First Investors.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree required
Masters degree (MBA) strongly preferred
CFA
EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 15 years in Financial Services industry, particularly in Investment management, mutual fund transfer agency management and mutual fund marketing arenas.
Attained progressively senior roles throughout career
Successful execution of strategic and business goals
Experience in effectively communicating with shareholders and Boards of Directors
