The group provides business and market knowledge to guide the development, maintenance and enhancement for the analytics and tools that are used to support the investment management needs of BlackRock Solutions’ risk management clients. Position: Portfolio Analytics Group (PAG) - Analyst Location: New York, NY Job Description: The responsibilities of a 1st year Analyst in the Portfolio Analytics Group's include: * Learning and understanding in detail many different product types from the fixed income and equity markets as well as the different risks of each sector * Understand who the client is and what their investment objectives are * Understand client objectives, trading strategies and market events to effectively respond to client requests * Development and support of risk analysis for BlackRock Solutions clients * Tracking the client’s daily trading activity and understanding the rationale behind their strategies * Following the Global markets on a daily basis to understand how macro-economic factors affect the portfolios risks and investment decisions * Contributing as part of a team which will often consist of all levels of the firm. Creative ideas and input are expected and sought from everyone involved Qualifications: * Outstanding academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, work experience and demonstrated leadership qualities * 0-2 years of relevant experience * Works well as part of a team * Enjoys a fast-paced, high-intensity environment * Possesses excellent communication and presentation skills. * Is creative, analytical and is open to using Technology to problem solve * A strong interest in financial analysis and the investment management process * Has an entrepreneurial spirit that is willing to take on additional responsibility quickly * High attention to detail * Technical skills (C/C++, PERL, HTML) are a plus, but NOT required
