Plant / Operations Controller

Our client is environmentally friendly and is the nation's largest recycler of scrap steel. We are searching for a Controller to join our client's growing team. Training and duties required of the Controller include:


  • Training and experience in general accounting, including journal entries, A/R, A/P, payroll, fixed assets and financial statement preparation
  • Working daily with finance, HR, credit, contracts, freight, operations, procurement, purchasing and various other departments
  • Mindset to challenge operations and continually seek ways to make improvements
  • General understanding of key business applications as they relate to various IT technologies
  • Ability to prepare and analyze financial projections and performance trends
  • Ability to develop key performance factor reporting and related performance improvement focused analysis
  • Organizing, planning and managing financial projects
  • Ability to asses and identify key business risks and develop and implement effective business practices to mitigate risks in regards to contract management, insurance policies, internal controls, business law and company policies
  • Developing a thorough knowledge of the company's business practices and overall market situation

 

Mandatory Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • 10+ years accounting supervisory experience with proven results as a Controller or Divisional Controller in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum experience as a Controller with a company handling a minimum of $100M in sales
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with others, from production staff to direct reports and other members of the management team
  • Experience supervising or leading a group with the ability to establish and maintain a team environment
  • Motivated, self-starter
  • Driven and looking to advance in their career
  • Willingness to go the extra mile to complete job duties
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Preferred qualifications include CPA or CMA certification
