Part Time Collections Specialist
We are seeking outgoing individuals with a strong customer focus and excellent communication skills to work in our Customer Resolutions Services department. The Collection Specialist will take calls through our dialer system so they must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment in a call center. This position is accountable for contacting Department of Education student loan customers, endorsers, and co-makers whose accounts are more than 60 days delinquent or critically nearing default. The Collection Specialist is charged with reducing delinquency and securing payments from delinquent customers by effectively communicating the importance of loan responsibility and the consequences of default. The Collections Specialist must counsel delinquent customers on all available repayment and deferment options to resolve the customer's delinquent status.
We are offering an excellent starting salary along with a monthly incentive and 401k! We are also offering flexible schedules and hours.
Applicants must be able to work at least 3 shifts per week. Each shift must be at least 4 hours long. You must work a minimum of 15 hours per week. You can work up to 23 hours per week. Applicants must be able to work until 11 at least two nights a week. Applicants can make up their own schedule based on the hours listed above and the requirements listed (candidates MUST work two Saturdays per month for 3 hours each).
Education: College degree preferred but not required* * Additional equivalent experience beyond the minimum required may substitute for the educational requirement Experience: * Six months to one year of customer contact experience preferred. * Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the demonstrated ability to effectively negotiate with customers to secure commitment to pay. * Must communication in a clear and concise manner. * Demonstrated ability to listen and "hear" the customer's concern so that the appropriate response is given. * Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations in order to determine proper delinquency of loans utilizing last payment dates, monthly payment amounts, interest rates and payments received. * Basic knowledge of applicable Microsoft Office applications, with a demonstrated proficiency in Excel. * Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment. * Ability to work effectively in a team, people, and results oriented environment.
Additional Requirements: * Position requires extensive use of computer. * Ability to sit in one place for long periods of time. * Must be able to obtain appropriate public trust security clearance as required of federal government contractors to include a background check conducted by the U.S. Government to determine eligibility and suitability for federal contract employment for public trust or sensitive positions.
