Job Description:
Establishes overall Corporate accounting, budgeting and financial reporting policies and procedures which will provide effective control and satisfy the informational requirements of senior executive management, line and staff management, independent auditors. Reports and interprets the results of operations to management. This position will report to the CFO-South in NY and be the finance partner to the President ? OgilvySouth.
Responsibilities: The Controller is responsible for:
A. Directing and participating in the development and evaluation of financial control programs and procedures which are consistent with established policies for financial control.
1. Assures the accurate and consistent recording and reporting of financial and accounting data.
2. Directs the development and assures the proper maintenance of control systems to safeguard corporate assets and to effectively monitor operations.
3. Directs the development and implementation of budgeting systems and reforecasting.
4. Integrates and coordinates controllership functions and systems to achieve maximum operating efficiency and effectiveness.
B. Comparing financial performance of operations with operating plans and standards; reporting and interpreting the financial results from operations; reporting significant trends and variations and contributing toward the formulation of future policies and strategies which will enhance overall profitability and operating efficiency.
C. Establishing and directing a supporting organization which can effectively perform all activities essential to the controllership function. Financial stewardship of all NY operations ($20 Million), including staff planning. Enforcement of proper accounting rules and business controls to protect financial health and operational integrity of the Ogilvy South office.
II. Measures of Performance
A. Overall accuracy of accounting records and financial reports.
B. Overall accuracy of budgeting and reforecasting.
C. Adequacy of internal controls.
D. Level of efficiency attained in controllership operations
E. Effectiveness and availability of financial information for managerial decision-making
Qualifications:
A. CPA or MBA and strong background in accounting and financial management.
B. Exposure to planning and financial reporting.
C. Exposure to Sarbanes Oxley Reporting.
D. Established proficiency in planning, analysis and oral and written communication. Proficiency in Excel and Powerpoint.
E. Entrepreneurial experience and/or orientation.
F. Managerial and administrative capabilities.
G. Strong communication skills.
H. 5-8 years of experience in a financial reporting and analytical role. Preferably with 2-3 years of supervisory/managerial experience.
I. Ability to work independently with senior management, peers and junior staff.
J. Professional maturity and proven leadership skills.
III. Scope and Impact of Position Responsibilities
A. Responsible for the safeguarding of Corporate assets, the effective accounting for and control of operations and for contributing to the formulation of overall financial and operating strategies.
