O&G Corporate Accountant
Our client is a rapidly growing, Oil & Gas company located in Downtown Houston. They are currently looking to add a General Ledger Accountant to their Corporate Accounting Department. The Corporate General Ledger Accountant will be responsible for the entry, analysis and maintenance of the general ledger to ensure accuracy of A/P coding, revenue and cost allocation. Other duties will require research, recording, response and efficient resolving of issues. The Corporate General Ledger Accountant will also perform and support the monthly G/L close process including year-end processes.
Other duties will include, but not be limited to the following:
Perform and support the monthly multi-ledger (ML) close process which includes processing on-top journal entries, update logs/graphs and reconciliations between the G/L and ML.
Prepare monthly financial statements, along with monthly journal entries inclusive of supporting documentation and appropriate descriptions.
Work closely with accounting team and Controller to ensure timely and accurate posting to the general ledger.
Review monthly year-end accruals for accuracy.
Monitor close activities as scheduled per the GL Close Calendar and other monthly close communications.
Collect and prepare spreadsheet reports, verify information, interpret results.
Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files.
Assist in the ongoing management and maintenance of accounting procedures by following documented procedures and recommending changes when necessary.
Assist in the analysis and processing of allocated expenses across multiple locations.
Facilitate and assist in completion of monthly close procedures.
Support internal and external audit reviews (financial and controls).
Provide support with balancing work load and prioritizing department activities.
Assist in special projects as necessary.
Requirements:
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required. Major in Accounting preferred.
3-7 years Oil and Gas experience is a MUST.
CPA or CPA seeking preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Access
Must possess strong analytical aptitude as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
Able to interact with internal and external personnel
