About the team
The Motif Operations Project teams are uniquely positioned between finance and operations. The team has key stakeholders throughout a broad cross section of operational functions, but is also part of a larger team with product control, financial control and IT.
The project team maintains strong links with other operations project teams to ensure no cross project overlap.
As part of the overall expansion in the Operations team globally to be able to support multiple project rollouts running concurrently, as well as defining Operations sub-ledger strategy, the US team is being expended from 1 to 4.
Operations need a Project Manager to support the US Lead, to run and manage the MOTF Implementation workstreams, and BA resources.
Main Function The Finance Motif program is a strategic program of work to consolidate the sub-ledgers, P&L processes, business line balance sheet reporting and cost of funding allocations across all asset classes globally. This is a multi-year program with stakeholders across all areas in Finance, the Business, IT & Operations.
As part of this program of change, Operations will be impacted in areas such as balance sheet account sign off, reconciliations, funding allocations and defining the cash target operating model.
Main Duties - Understand the functionality and processes within the scope of Motif and the existing subledgers, becoming an expert in the handoffs between ops and finance.
- Play a key role in supporting the complex end to end testing of Motif for operations for the coming fixed income release.
- Support migration efforts through supervising the set up of new static data structures, organizing training of operations users and migration testing.
- Represent operations interests in multiple forums and workstreams ensuring operations controls and functionality is maintained.
- For this and future business line releases; define any Operations specific business requirements for inclusion in the overall program, working with PC, FC and IT.
- Work with the Operations line and project teams to help define any interim process models required during the transition periods from current state to target state during the phased implementation.
- Take ownership of certain areas of functionality/business stream releases.
Person Requirements - Proven Business Analyst, testing and project management skills
- Pro-active approach to problem solving, process improvement and risk mitigation.
- Ability to confidently represent the Ops Project Team when working with the various cross project forums ensuring operations requirements are maintained.
- Ability to partner & develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders from various areas of Operations & more broadly across the Bank
- Ability to motivate others to be enthusiastic about change, to generate momentum and enthusiasm about a project.
- Strong communication skills both verbal & written
- Good organizational; & time management skills
Ability to assimilate information quickly
- Strong understanding of multiple key asset classes
- Strong understanding of front to back operational process flows and controls
- Concrete understanding of investment banking, and the industry sector.
Qualified or part qualified accountant advantageous
- Practical experience or good understanding product control process preferred
- Prior experience of sub-ledger programmes preferred
