Reviews and verifies all items provided by the borrowers and ensures that they meet the Fannie Mae and FHA required guidelines. Ensures that all investor guidelines as well as Federal guidelines are met. Underwrites loan files that fall out of the automated project plan. Provides a second layer of quality control to ensure that the liability taken on by the company will not result in a non-saleable loan.
Functional Responsibilities: Work is performed for most complex assignments. Reviews and underwrites for consumer loans originated in the assigned regions, assuring compliance with all credit policies and consumer lending regulations; assures that the credit quality of the portfolio remains within standards established by senior management. Supports and contributes to the quality and sales goals of the bank through coaching sales staff in cross-selling and up-selling loan products and by delivering loan support through one-on-one coaching, group meetings and training classes. Performs other related duties as assigned and required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None, May provide training and guide the activities of entry-level staff members.
Typical Experience: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. 6+ yrs in the mortgage industry within the underwriting field. Job Requirements ? Minimum 6 years underwriting experience - conventional (conforming and jumbo), FHA, VA ? Must have CHUMS # from FHA and LAPP authority from VA ? Strong verbal communication skills ? Proficient with DU and LP ? Some excel and word experience ? Ability to review, analyze, and provide positive feedback on underwriting results ? Ability to work in a team environment to contribute maximum overall team performance ?
