Middleware Support Engineer
This position will be responsible for application layer platform administration tasks with a focus on JAVA-based applications.
The candidate will be responsible for overall support of production and user testing environments for all software above OS stack, which includes vendor and in-house based applications. Interaction with Infrastructure and Application Development teams is necessity. Work will include project and operational tasks, with emphasis on coordination across teams.
Position Responsibility:
1. Vended product administration with primary focus on BEA WebLogic Portal, BEA AquaLogic Service Bus, and AquaLogic Data Services, with lesser emphasis on Oracle Universal Content Management and Adobe LiveCycle.
2. Promotion of application code from in-house Application Development teams
3. Vended product upgrade planning, coordination across teams and rollout
4. Solid knowledge of Windows and RedHat Linux operating systems, Java-based application servers (such as WebLogic or Tomcat), along with basic network knowledge for troubleshooting
5. Ability to clearly communicate across multiple tiers of organization
6. Ability to interface with off-shore team members for support of daily tasks and teaching of new technology
7. Follow existing organizational and team processes while always looking for improvements
8. Provide off-hours support as needed
1. Minimum 3 years experience with High Availability Java-based Application Server Environment - WebLogic preferred.
2. Prior experience with WebLogic Portal, AquaLogic Service Bus, AquaLogic Data Services, Oracle Universal Content Management or Adobe LiveCycle administration preferred.
3. Working knowledge of Information Decision Systems Rapport is a plus.
4. Exposure in the areas of Microsoft IIS, Apache Tomcat, and BizTalk 2006 R2 are big plus.
5. Experience in platform evaluation for performance and optimization; general troubleshooting and problem management skills; and ability to multi-task required.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must, prior Project Management experience preferred.
7. Solid knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems along with basic network knowledge for troubleshooting
8. College degree in Information Systems or Computer Science preferred, or equivalent technical work experience
9. Prior development and scripting experience is beneficial.
