What Will I do at this company?
Reserves production and new material on key categories. Negotiates product costs, and places commitments for assigned product categories.
Monitors monthly performance against production commitments.
Manages and maintains a global matrix of manufacturers and mills to implement the Company sourcing plan. Evaluates supplier performance and sourcing strategies.
Analyzes product packages for target cost value. Designates supplier and mill for appropriate sampling and costing of assigned lines.
Researches and evaluates new sourcing opportunities.
Uses high standards of integrity and a strong cultural awareness to maintain liaisons internationally, and to build and maintain strong working relationships with Design, Product Development, and Logistics.
Manages the reduction of lead-times to be able to react to shifts within our mix and add flexibility to our sales team and ensure on time delivery to the customer.
Provides personal leadership in establishing and maintaining standard of performance. Continuously develops potential of team members and suppliers.
Working closely with cross functional partners in the business units so as to understand the future needs that the supply chain will need to support.
Key Relationships
Works with Product Development, Technical Design, Design and Quality teams on global manufacturing decisions that impact our results.
Communicates with all foreign buying offices on all placement of product.
Works with merchant teams to determine target costs and delivery flow plans which meet profit goals.
Maintains worldwide industry and economic liaisons to aid strategic decision-making.
Understands maintain and develops supplier relationships.
Travel to factories 2-3 times per year to negotiate price, work with designers, and build partnerships with suppliers.
What does this company need from me?
Education: College degree preferred.
Experience: 8 - 12 years' experience with thorough knowledge of global sourcing, supplier capability, and product development gained through progressively more responsible product development and/or sourcing assignments. Has a successful record in resource development. International Travel Required.
Core/Positional Competences: Communication, Organization Work, strong understanding of international manufacturing, material, fabric and/or garment constructions, and possess personal strength in negotiating strategy and analytical skills.
