This role will be reporting to the Manager, Human Resources & Workforce Planning. The Manager, Payroll and Benefits will ensure the timely and accurate processing of all aspects of payroll and benefits administration utilizing the SAP Integrated Resources Information System (IRIS).
Responsibilities * Oversee the processing and accurate loading of all payroll and benefits changes to IRIS ensuring integrity and consistency of data and maximizing use of the system * Respond to enquiries from employees and managers regarding payroll issues and resolving problems which may include benefits and pension enrolment, eligibility and termination * Ensure accurate preparation of all payroll tax forms and year-end summaries, including T4 preparations, pension statement data, and benefits enrolment ensuring adherence to all applicable government and regulatory requirements and internal/external audit requirements * Liaise with stakeholders on payroll, benefits and SAP systems related issues. Review system/data integrity through audit reviews to identify and resolve data and/or feed or system process issues * Evaluate staff according to the performance management program to ensure highest quality service is being provided and competencies reviewed * Create a learning environment where best practices and knowledge is shared. Transfer skills and knowledge to enhance performance of team and provide opportunity for growth and development * Plan and implement projects in line with project management principles to achieve objectives and work closely with other areas of HR to achieve HR strategic priorities Requirements * Membership in the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) and achievement of the PayrollManager Certification granted by the CPA * Successful completion of a relevant post secondary degree * A minimum of five (5) years progressive payroll management experience in a unionized environment with a minimum of three (3) years HRIS system experience, preferably SAP * Strong report writing, data analysis skills * Demonstrated knowledge of relevant payroll/employment-related legislation * Strong supervisory and team building skills with the ability to work collaboratively * Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint * Proven ability to maintain sensitive and highly confidential information * Sound judgment and decision making skills * Excellent communication skills (written and oral), combined with demonstrated tact, diplomacy and objectivity * Ability to travel to field offices throughout Ontario as required $ 40+/hrApplyTell A Friend
