Information Technology Summer Intern

During our twelve-week program you will be assigned tasks that expand on the skills you have developed at school. We are offering opportunities in many different areas including: Software Development, Information Protection, Cyber Security, Project Management, Systems Analysis, Systems Architecture, and Systems Integration. PROGRAMMER ANALYST: are responsible for interpreting requirements and implementing them into the system(s). Tasks will include, but are not limited to providing assistance to design, program and execute simple test plans. They will write and compile basic code. A fundamental understating of Java or C/C++/C# is a key requirement.
PROJECT MANAGERS: will perform various tasks to ensure their projects remain on schedule, on budget, and have high quality deliverables. An understanding of IT systems and terminology is a key requirement.
INFORMATION PROTECTION and CYBER SECURITY: work to establish procedures to use to maintain the security and integrity of data within the Boeing Company. Conduct assessments to ensure our applications, network, and infrastructure are secure. Monitor external access to our network to identify potential threats and work to mitigate them. Manage the software and hardware used to protect our infrastructure.
SYSTEMS ANALYST: are responsible for gathering and documenting requirements from our customers internally and externally and playing a liaison role. Analysts also assist in creating use cases and conducting testing on the applications and systems they support. This role allows more people interaction, yet still requires an understanding of programming and requirement documentation.
SYSTEMS ARCHITECTURE: will be responsible for creating and reviewing implementation documentation for system development. They are also involved in creating a future roadmap for where the organization will be headed in the future.
SYSTEMS INTEGRATION: similar to systems architecture, the main difference is this will focus mostly on designing the interrelationships between systems, assist in resolving conflicts, implementing new systems within the current environment, and retiring old systems that are no longer needed.
ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES: There is work in other roles which require more targeted experience to the specific position and will be determined at the time of the interview. Some of these include: Database Administration (involves developing and enhancing existing databases), Versatile Technologist for IT Infrastructure (involves supporting network systems, collaboration tools, desktop services or IT data centers), and Usability Services (involves developing user interaction designs and prototypes).
Competencies
We are looking for well rounded candidates with good technical and collaborative skills. Candidates should demonstrate the following competencies on their resume and during interviews: Technical knowledge, communication skills, leadership experience, ability to collaborate, problem solving, and analytical skills. The technical skills required are wide-ranging, therefore computer & information sciences, and engineering students will be considered. Candidates should include a section on their resume to highlight their technical skills.

INTERN PROGRAM: Boeing's top ranked intern program will fill your schedule with structured events to get you to exciting opportunities in the city in which you work. At Boeing the internship experience starts the day you receive the offer - for example, we provide a virtual environment for interns to meet and get to know each other before your first day. Start and end dates will be determined based on the selected candidates' school schedule. The two intern sessions for 2012 are twelve weeks each. Option 1 is May 18 through Aug 9 and option 2 is June 22 through September 13. Accommodations may be considered on an individual basis.
