Job Summary This is the entry level analyst position in the Informatics department to turn Horizon's data into business knowledge. Job Qualifications Education/Experience: -Requires Bachelor's degree, preferably in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Nursing, from an accredited college or university, or 10+ years of progressively responsible relevant experience can be substituted for bachelor's degree. -Requires zero (0) to three (3) years experience in business or health-related field or masters degree will count towards work experience.
Knowledge: -Prefers general health care knowledge.
Skills and Abilities: -Requires general skill with MS Office (particularly in Excel and Access). -Requires aptitude to utilize SAS analytical tools as well as other similar tools (nos, SQL Server, etc.). -Requires good analytical thinking ability. -Requires good verbal and written communication skills. -Requires good customer-oriented attitude and willingness to meet customer needs and handle rework on a timely basis. -Requires that within 6 months, develop competency to produce standard reports and some ad hocs on an independent basis. Responsibilities -Provide meaningful analytic output that meet the needs of internal and external customers in the areas of Actuarial, Account Reporting, Network Profiling, Disease Management, Decision Support, and Data Management. -Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of methods, processes and programs. -Organize and efficiently store data files (i.e. appropriately named, efficiently sized, etc.). -Validate data output to appropriate benchmark prior to sending to customer. -Select and utilize most appropriate analytic tool based on project need. -Keep the Informatics Request Log up to date for audit purposes. -Attend internal training (SAS, etc.) to hone necessary job-related skills. -May contribute to departmental project work.
