Title: Income/Tax Analyst Location: PA-Pittsburgh
The incumbent is responsible for monitoring and ensuring all income is received and accounted for and assisting the Income/Tax Specialist in initiating claims to appropriate parties. S/he will assist the Supervisor in daily operational issues and ensure that procedures and policies are being followed as well as contribute to development of new procedures including testing of systems enhancements and new products. S/he is also responsible for assisting the Supervisor in daily functions including final review of income folders prior to payable date to ensure proper reconcilement prior to release of income to client accounts, and training and development of the staff. S/he is responsible for ensuring the subcustodians are paying income and tax reclaims in a timely and accurate manner which includes tracking the quality standard of each subcustodians vs. market standards. This individual is responsible for researching and understanding the processes and specific procedures for multiple locations and a diverse client base such as pensions, super national organizations and intermediary banks. S/he must acquire Time Share Option (TSO) software skills in order to create and customize reports to client specifications. S/he will monitor reports to ensure that all aspects of the job are performed within standard and follow-up on any items that are nearing or past standard. S/he will possess a detailed knowledge of the documentation requirements for multiple locations and ensure that client-level documentation is solicited in a timely fashion to protect The Bank of New York Mellon against potential claims or liability due to loss of reclaim eligibility. S/he will work with the Income/Tax Specialists to monitor the Tax Reclaim imaging system to ensure that any documentation that has been received from the client is processed for all locations. S/he will work closely with the Account Opening/Documentation Analyst in selecting the tax appropriate omnibus account during the account opening process. S/he will also work with the Account Opening /Documentation Analyst to ensure clients are receiving appropriate tax withholding n line with documentation submitted and omnibus selection. S/he will monitor weekly and monthly reports to ensure against losses due to violations of the statute of limitations, as well as to ensure that all reclaims are processed within the divisional quality standards and market dictated standards. The Analyst must also monitor the aged receivable and suspense account reports for outstanding items, and provide status updates on all control items on a weekly basis. The qualified candidate will have a BA/BS degree or the equivalent of 3-4 years of industry experience. S/he will have excellent verbal/written communication skills. S/he will have the ability to work under pressure and prioritize and handle many tasks at once. S/he must possess strong analytical skills, be organized, and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. She/he must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. Candidate must be PC oriented in order to learn TSO and create customized client reports on an ad hoc basis. S/he must be control-oriented and possess analytical skills with the ability to observe a process, identify inefficiencies and propose enhancements and alternatives to improve overall operations.
