Incisive Analysis - Lead ScientistIncisive Analysis - Lead ScientistTracking Code6312-237Job Description OVERVIEW: TASC is seeking qualified Lead Scientists with Subject Matter Expertise in Incisive Analysis. Background expertise includes anyof the following applied research areas; Virtual Worlds, Artificial Intelligence, Holography, Video Retrieval, Image Science, Pattern Recognition IMINT, MASINT, Knowledge Discovery/Dissemination, Materials Science, Linguistics, Speech Recognition, Cognitive Modeling/Science, Data Modeling & Analysis, Sociology and Neuroscience. The Lead Scientists/SME will provide R&D oversight to support the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA). IARPA invests in high-risk/high-payoff research programs that have the potential to provide our nation with an overwhelming intelligence advantage over future adversaries. Interpersonal skills are important as this position requires working with senior professional staff, government leadership within IARPA, and IARPA's development contractors. The official work location will be at the IARPA facility in College Park, Maryland. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the client with management of a research program. Provide SETA support to a Government Research and Development program focused on Neurosciences. Advise the Government Program Manager with the analysis of scientific and operational literature, Survey and Summarization of operational requirements of the intelligence enterprise, Analysis of state-of-the-art approaches to intelligence challenges, Assistance in the development of metrics for technical performance, Assistance with preparation for and execution of workshops and proposers' day meetings, engagement with the private sector on a potential upcoming program, providing independent technical analysis of white papers, abstracts, and proposals for early stage research that may lead to a new program, assistance with preparation of presentations and other materials for prospective programs; analysis of the progress of research efforts and associated test and evaluation activities, ensuring these efforts remain on track towards satisfying program goals; participation in project site visits, review of deliverables, assessment of test results, and other activities focused on evaluating the progress of sponsored research; Assistance with compilation and distribution of technology and results to prospective customer. Fostering of collaboration with other R&D organizations, pursuing opportunities for technology transfer, and contribution to the preparation of program documentation and briefings, including program approval documents, research descriptions, and reporting of accomplishments. QUALIFICATIONS: TO QUALIFY, CANDIDATESMUST HAVE AN ACTIVETOP SECRET SCI SECURITY CLEARANCE WITH POLYGRAPH Minimum of a Masters degreein engineering, computer science or related area (PhD highly preferred) 5+ years experience/Subject Matter Expertise performing state-of-the-art technology research or technology research oversight inoneof the following areas; Virtual Worlds, Artificial Intelligence, Holography, Video Retrieval, Image Science, Pattern Recognition, IMINT, MASINT, Knowledge Discovery/Dissemination, Materials Science, Linguistics, Speech Recognition, Cognitive Modeling/Science, Data Modeling & Analysis, Sociology and Neuroscience Experience with writing program solicitations and evaluating proposals Ability to commute to College Park, MD Ability to proactively manage multiple, concurrent tasks Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: Professional Publications in the above listed/applied fields is highly desirable Experience working with IARPA or DARPA, National Lab or University Research center.
