GENERAL SUMMARY: Accurately and proficiently process transactions utilizing specialized check image software and hardware while ensuring time sensitive deadlines are met. Assist branches with Image Branch questions as necessary. Review images and appropriately handle image quality issues and items identified in Duplicate Detection, IQR and Fraud Suspect for optimal results. Independently and accurately handle multiple incoming and outgoing file transmissions directed to JP Morgan Chase, Federal Reserve and Metavante utilizing Secured Transport and the BARR software. Process exception image files through Auto Image Returns and Exception Processing Manager software choosing the appropriate steps to send, assign, format and print IRDs. Process image statement files both electronic, paper print and CD ROM creation accurately while observing time sensitive deadlines. Perform daily and weekly system downs as necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Timely and accurately process multiple statement files following the appropriate workflow for image statement, truncated, mail codes and electronic statements utilizing Auto Mail Pro software as when possible for postage cost savings. Provide basic guidance to other operators on the procedures for processing image statements and CD ROM production.
2. Independently operate sorter and scanning equipment, selecting the appropriate jobs and sort patterns. Perform regular maintenance on equipment and review image and ink quality to ensure accurate processing and minimize negative client and bank impact. Notify supervisor of supplies needed.
3. Assist as needed with Inclearing and Virtual Proof processing and input for amounts, data correction and reject repair. Accurately reconcile routine and complex out of balance transaction as necessary. Determine types of errors that result in an out of balance batch or transaction and select the most appropriate solution.
4. Independently complete various check system tasks to produce multiple transit and Optima files and reports. Input high quality images into the archive and prepare transaction information to transmit to Metavante. Review and identify items to determine duplicates, quality issues or potential fraud utilizing tools such as Duplicate Detect, IQR and Fraud Suspect taking appropriate action to prevent client or bank impact or losses.
5. Accurately complete transit exception encoding. Assist with outgoing electronic and paper cash letters, summary reports and transmission of transit OEC files utilizing Secured Transport to multiple exchange partners.
6. Appropriately process Exceptions and Returns utilizing the Optima AIR/EPM module and IRD print.
7. Process and print a variety of daily reports and notices that are transmitted from Metavante to the BARR PC. Distributes notices to appropriate departments.
8. Format, reconcile and transmit data to Metavante, including check processing files as well as multiple other files such as Finance General Ledger files, Payroll, Exception Decision files from AIR/EPM, Wire System files, Teller Insight files and Deposit Fraud.
9. Verify processing of daily COLD reports. Use reports log to verify all reports processed, identifying missing reports and escalating to Team Leader.
10. Assists with end of day duties as required.
11. Perform routine problem solving during system failures to trouble shoot and resolve typical problems that occur. Escalate to Management as appropriate. Work with technicians as needed for resolution.
12. Assist branch staff with scanning and Image Branch software questions as needed. Assist others with troubleshooting end of day out of balance conditions with Image Branch as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 1. Position requires a minimum of 2 years of check processing, PC server experience and operating systems. Must include a minimum of 1 year in Deposit Operations and working with the Optima System. A good general knowledge of bank operations gained from experience and/or class work is required.
2. Ability to operate specialized equipment in a proficient manner. Must be able to utilize SSB's Optima Check system including Windows software, Barr PC, high-speed printers, and personal computer systems. Ability to operate standard office equipment: calculator, copier and fax machine also necessary.
3. An above average level of analytical ability is required to identify potential issues that would result in a bad quality digital image or a negative impact to the workflow. Must be aware of proper steps in workflow to appropriately select the next task.
4. Work is under occasional supervision utilizing established procedures that enable the employee to work alone to accomplish tasks, referring questionable situations to Team Leader. Must be flexible, moving from task to task as needed throughout the shift.
5. Position requires contact internally and externally between WAUSAU support, other software and hardware technicians and internal departments, usually over the phone, providing and seeking information. Appropriate interpersonal skills needed to maintain a positive rapport.
6. Work requires a concentrated level of mental effort and visual attention while operating equipment. Interruptions occur, but periods of concentration must be sustained. In addition, work involves keying numbers on a 10 keypad at high rate of speed and operating a PC.
7. Understanding of capture, server and PC equipment, check processing and image software required. Proficient understanding of balancing transactions using Optima tools to move items into appropriate transaction order.
SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work requires the ability to stand and reach for extended periods of time; push and pull carts weighing up to 250 pounds; lift check trays and boxes weighing up to 45 pounds; and operate standard telephone. Manual dexterity is needed to operate personal computer systems, input large amounts of data rapidly and accurately on a 10 key pad, and manipulate stacks of paper items. Must also be able to sit for extended periods of time keying data.
WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Work involves exposure to equipment noise and paper dust for sustained periods of time. In addition, much of the duties are performed while standing. Work requires highly repetitive hand motions.
2. Unusual workloads or processing problems may necessitate additional non standard hours.
