Job description: A Health & Benefits Analyst is responsible to provide technical and professional support in the plan design, financing, pricing, and administration of group medical, dental, life and disability programs.
Principal duties as analyst: * Collect, analyze and interpret life, disability and health care data * Analyze claims, estimate future plan costs and develop pricing using in-house tools * Assist with management of employer group benefit plans including: analysis of financial reports and rate setting, negotiating with insurers; review and revision of policy and benefit wording and calculation of cost implications of plan redesign or union negotiating demands * Develop awareness of life, disability and health care plan design, cost factors and conduct the renewal process * Understand employer HR issues as they relate to benefits * BA/BS degree in math, statistics, economics, business, finance or liberal arts * Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a group benefits financial underwriting or benefits consulting role * CEBS Designation, or working towards would be an asset * Prepared to achieve Life License within a year * Superior analytical and mathematical skills; strong command of Excel * Excellent interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communication skills * Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment * Ability to work independently and on a team.
