Title: Fund Accounting Analyst Co-Op Merrimack Location: NH-Merrimack Position Description
As part of Fidelity's Pricing and Cash Management Services (FPCMS) business unit the Lean Accounting and Pricing (LEAPS) team provides accounting and pricing services to all of the Fidelity Retail and Institutional products, supporting multiple asset managers (i.e. FMR, SAI, GEODE, and FIC). These services include books and records maintenance, securities' pricing, and net asset value, yield and distribution rate calculations. The division is comprised of 5 business units, representing approximately 400 associates located primarily in 3 sites; Boston, MA, Merrimack, NH, and Westlake, TX.
The primary function for this role is to calculate the daily Net Asset Value of the various funds that Fidelity manages and supports. As part of this responsibility, the Fund Accounting Co-op reviews all of the data points pertinent to the funds - security trades, income, expenses, shareholder transactions, etc. In addition to the technical aspect of the role, the Analyst also performs project work, looks for process improvements, partakes in training and development opportunities and is part of a larger team effort.
Primary Responsibilities
* Calculate, analyze and report NAVS, Mils, Yields while adhering to policy, procedures, and regulatory guidelines along with other ad-hoc responsibilities * Works independently to complete daily/monthly activities * Analyze and review daily/monthly reconciliations, expense accruals, disbursements and trade input * Provide daily support of business relationships with customer/suppliers such as the shareholder service area, custodian banks, fund administration, portfolio management, trading and custody operation on a fund specific basis * Identify and participate in development of cross-divisional business initiatives * Participate in continuous process improvement across the organization
Length of Assignment * The co-op role is a temporary, paid position from June - December 2012 * Must be able to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm * Must be currently enrolled in a 4 year degree program at the start of the Co-Op Education and Experience * In process of earning a Bachelor's degree required Skills and Knowledge * Knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP). * Strong analytical & organizational skills. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Strong computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (such as Word or Excel), ability to train on and work with different operating systems. * Ability to work in a team environment. * Ability to work in a face paced and deadline-oriented environment
