Position: Front-end Web Developer
Overview: The successful candidate will be involved in all front-end aspects of developing and maintaining BlackRock’s Global web sites and applications, from requirements definition and functional design to project planning, technical design and implementation. Candidates should have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to make decisions quickly in consultation with team members and subject matter experts. They should be able to build relationships, actively participate in team work and understand the dynamics of a global business environment. Attention to detail and creativity in problem solving are critical skills.
Key Job Responsibilities: * Work as a front-end web developer with back-end developers, test engineers, project managers, technical leads, business owners and analysts through the whole SDLC, understanding and refining front-end and user interface requirements, designing and writing code, clearly documenting the development process. * Participate in setting front-end coding standards and guidelines for BlackRock web sites, identify and document best practices. Understand the necessity of and contribute to coding standards. * Stay abreast of the new front-end web development technologies; integrate them with BlackRock’s web sites to further enhance the usability and efficiency of the sites as necessary.
Skills/Requirements: * Minimum 4 years of experience in developing front-end and user interface code for large scale web sites. * 3+ years of experience coding in JSP, JSTL, HTML, JavaScript and CSS. Experience in Ajax, jQuery, Flex, XML, JSON strongly preferred. Experience with various other markup languages (ASP, CFM, PHP, XSL, etc.) is a plus. * B.S. / B.A. degree or equivalent work experience. * Ability to address and quickly fix HTML, CSS and scripting compatibility issues between different browsers and platforms. * Knowledge of current web design and development trends. * Experience with Teamsite, Stellant, and/or other Content Management Systems. * Strong understanding of web analytics, SEO techniques. * Familiarity with portal technologies and back-end frameworks and methodologies (Java, .NET, Spring MVC, etc.) * Experience with Subversion or similar file management systems. * Experience and working knowledge of both Agile and waterfall development practices. * Experience working with global project teams spread across several time zones. * Strong teamwork, communication skills and time management abilities a must. * Financial knowledge and interest strongly recommended.
