BlackRock wishes to recruit an experienced research analyst who will work with the Global Small/Mid Cap team which is managing approximately $3.2 billion across multiple products. The analyst will work in conjunction with team members to assist in the selection of equity securities in the Financials sector in support of the team’s US Small/Mid Value Products. Responsibilities:
* Develop unique research insights by conducting fundamental, bottom-up stock analysis on US Small/Mid Cap companies in the Financials sector. * Review results of monthly screens and use output as a starting point to launch fundamental research with the goal to present new investment ideas to the team. * Call, visit and interview company managements. Develop strong one-on-one relationships characterized by frequent contact and high quality communication. * Refine existing financial models for companies under coverage. * Dynamically update price targets and confidence factors on covered stocks so as to influence the team’s overall ranking of ideas and to drive buy/sell decisions. * Proactively communicate investment ideas through discussions with the portfolio manager and team members. * Serve as a resource for, and share information with, other investment professionals at BlackRock regarding the Financials sector. Requirements:
* Ideal candidate will have a minimum of three to five years of US Small/Mid Cap experience and expertise in the financials sector. International/Global experience is also valued. * Significant experience interviewing management teams at the CEO and CFO level. Strong knowledge of the financials sector preferred that will allow immediate productivity. * MBA and/or C.F.A. desired. * Excellent research skills; fundamental analyst with strong, first-hand research skills and ability to conduct probing and comprehensive interviews with managements and to build value-added relationships over time. * Ability to adapt and operate effectively within the Global Small/Mid Cap team’s existing investment process; stock picking skills with a demonstrable track record of success. * Strong written and oral communication skills; proactive communicator who takes the lead in advocating investment ideas to colleagues. * Effective interpersonal skills with influencing skills and an ability to quickly establish credibility.
