Position Description Reporting to the Finance Manager as part of the Bellevue-based TripAdvisor Finance team, this Financial Analyst position will play an important role in driving improved forecast accuracy for the TripAdvisor Media Group (TAMG), a rapidly growing travel media unit of Expedia, Inc. This role will support financial planning, reporting and analysis needs across TAMG, with an initial focus on global headcount and people costs. Working closely with the Hyperion Administration team, the Financial Analyst will also be a key contributor in converting components of the TAMG forecast from Excel based models into Hyperion Planning based models.
Responsibilities: - Work closely with the TAMG Finance and Recruiting teams to prepare, analyze and report on monthly headcount forecasts, utilizing Hyperion Planning, Hyperion Essbase and offline Excel models - Partner with TAMG Finance and Accounting teams to understand and analyze the key business drivers impacting TAMG people costs, including compensation, payroll taxes, benefits, rent, facilities, travel, meals, and depreciation - Develop and utilize an advanced technical understanding of Hyperion Planning systems and work closely with the Hyperion Administration team to recommend improvements to existing Hyperion Planning models and convert additional components of TAMG forecasts from Excel models to Hyperion Planning - Work closely with Finance Manager to research and understand forecast variances towards the completion of Monthly & Quarterly Business Reviews - Optimize financial and reporting processes which allow the business to understand past performance and future potentials - Coordinate with counterparts across other Expedia Finance teams, adopting and sharing best practices - Various ad-hoc reporting as necessary - Occasional travel required
Qualifications: - Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and large-scale financial planning systems required - Hyperion Planning and Hyperion Essbase skills strongly preferred - Extremely organized with the ability to contribute to, and sometimes manage, multiple projects within tight time lines - Strong spreadsheet, data-management, and presentation skills - Exceptional organizational/time management abilities with superior attention to detail - Passion for using data to better drive decision making - Strong qualitative and quantitative financial skills
Work Experience and Education Guidelines: - BA in Finance/Economics/Accounting required - 2 - 3 years work experience in a similar role with demonstrated understanding of accounting and financial processes
