The Houston office of Jefferson Wells is seeking high caliber Technical Accounting/Financial Reporting Professionals willing to step into a key role of providing these technical services to our clients. This position will give the professional the ability to continue to use and enhance their technical skills while being exposed to recent pronouncements and also provides the opportunity to assist clients with process improvement and implementation of the most current software in today's fast changing environment.
Professionals (i.e., Consultants) at Jefferson Wells are the driving force for our success. They bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to our various service offerings and are responsible for delivering service on assigned client engagements within their unique area of expertise. Professionals follow the Jefferson Wells' methodology and service excellence standards while working with clients. Professionals are known for their diverse industry and management experience, ability to grasp and analyze challenging client requirements, and ability to work on a team or independently to deliver exceptional results. Professionals understand the Jefferson Wells' engagement methodology and service quality practices and apply them to all client engagements including, but not limited to:
* Identifying and/or initiating an engagement scope;
* Becoming familiar with our client's business process and environment;
* Providing clear, concise and appropriate documentation of work performed;
* Preparing internal and external status reports that communicate deliverables, progress and results;
* Researching various finance and technological issues in a wide range of industries;
* Advising on best practices in various finance and technological environments in a wide range of industries; and
* Working closely with other professionals and managers to promptly resolve client issues
A Technical Accounting/Financial Reporting professional works under the general supervision of the Director while completing assigned projects and maintaining the appropriate level of utilization. The professional is accountable for performing work at Jefferson Wells' clients in one or all of the following areas:
· Performing technical accounting research, assessing the impact of new accounting pronouncements on financial statements and providing technical updates to client senior management
· Preparation or review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and related management reporting.
· Preparation or review of all aspects of SEC regulatory filings (10-Qs, 10-Ks, 8-Ks, S-1's, proxy statements, etc).
· Assisting with or oversight of the quarterly press release process by preparing financial statements, analyzing results, reviewing press release text and preparing schedules to
be used by senior management in the quarterly earnings release conference calls.
· Work with external and internal auditors regarding controls compliance and audit issues as they arise during reviews.
· Development and implementation of improvements to financial close and reporting processes.
· Provide guidance and take a technical lead role on business acquisitions and dispositions

Qualifications:
· Bachelors degree in Accounting; MS or MBA a plus
· CPA designation required
· Minimum of 4 years of public accounting experience and industry experience in a financial reporting capacity for a minimum of 4 additional years.
· Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
· Strong knowledge of SEC reporting requirements
· Strong knowledge of and/or experience with general ledger systems, consolidation systems, management reporting, financial statement preparation and financial analysis
· Industry background including Energy, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Healthcare and/or Governmental
· Requires strong written and verbal communication skills, problem resolution skills and the ability to effectively work with cross functional teams and individuals at all levels of the organization
· Must be a self-starter and be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision
· Ability to drive projects to completion
· Confidence to make decisions
· Demonstrated record of positive client service with strong verbal and written communication skills.
