Houston based subsea systems business encompasses a wide range of equipment and technologies that are required to explore, drill and develop offshore oil and gas fields. They have a strong global presence in all of the world's major basins. Whether it is high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) trees and wellheads, subsea controls and systems or production optimization services, they add value to their customers throughout the life of the field. This company is currently seeking Export Traffic Controllers who willcoordinate export shipments from start to finish; open, file, and ensure all export paperwork has been produced correctly, filed with forwarder and maintained in export file. This controller will liaise with planners and project coordinators to properly schedule cargo for export transportation via ocean vessel or aircraft.
The ideal Export Traffic Controller will be a High School Grad with any academic achievement in logistics, supply chain or international business will be beneficial. He or she will have job history and experience in transportation industry (trucking, ocean shipping, air shipping, exporter, transportation broker/forwarder) and experience in transportation with following knowledge and skills: · Be familiar with the different types of trucks, ocean containers, ocean vessels, rail, and air transport used to transport cargo domestically and internationally. · Awareness of 15 CFR/EAR requirements and willingness to take additional training and obtain export certification. Awareness of BIS and requirements. · Experience with export documentation is required. Familiarity with Schedule B numbers and classifications. SAP experience a big plus. · Knowledge and experience regarding coordination of cargo deliveries with piers, terminals and freight forwarders required. Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills in order to interact with suppliers and co-workers in a team-based environment. The controller will be obtaining competitive quotes from transportation carriers and must know all the requirements to obtain ocean, ground and air quotes. He or she must have a tenacious attitude and good follow-up skills, and must be very detail and goal oriented. The candidate must be able to learn, work independently and yet know when to seek guidance. He or she will demonstrate the ability to interpret and apply relevant policies and procedures and ensure those policies and procedures are being followed by associates involved in logistics purchases. The controller will also show evidence of good organization and planning skills, and have PC skills including Excel spreadsheet, word processing. The ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast paced environment is crucial to this position, and hazmat certification is a plus, but can take course during this tenure.
The main duties and responsibilities of the Export Traffic Controller include: approving, correcting and verifying export documentation for export shipments; classifying product by Schedule for export purposes. The controller will assist internal customers with domestic and international rates/costs, cargo tracing, ordering of crates and skids, and may work with Projects to coordinate shipments.
