The Peace Corps is an independent U.S. government agency promoting world peace and friendship through the work of its Volunteers. Peace Corps positions are normally filled for an initial 2 1/2 year period, but may be extended to a total 5 year limit. This keeps our workplace vibrant and our ideas fresh. Major Duties: DUTIES: Designs, develops, implements, revises, updates, and executes Continuity of Operations (COOP) plans and programs for the continuation of essential agency functions and operations in the event of hazardous events or emergencies, i.e., geological, meteorological, biological, or human-caused events both accidental and intentional. Develops contingencies for the uninterrupted performance of agency operations that address people, processes, systems, infrastructure, and structural assets, e.g., alternate facilities, operations that are needed to continue to perform essential agency functions, etc. Qualifications: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to plan and execute work. Knowledge of Continuity of Operations (COOP) program objectives, strategies, plans, and directives. MINIMUM FEDERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Qualifying experience for the FP-05 level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the FP-06 or FP-07 which is equivalent to the GS-8 or GS-7 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples are researching and analyzing established administrative issues; acting as liaison with individuals and groups both inside and outside an organization regarding administrative and/or organizational matters; and preparing a variety of written documents, such as staff papers, status reports, or policy recommendations SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: The experience requirement for the FP-05 level may be met by two (2) full academic years of graduate level education or completion of all requirements for a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or completion of all requirements for an LL.B or J.D. degree. COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the experience requirements.
