Airgas-West, Inc., (Airgas Inc.'s regional subsidiary headquartered in Lakewood, California) seeks a Director of Finance. Reporting to the CFO, the primary role(s) of this position include, but are not limited to, the development, implementation, execution, and oversight of all processes that establish controls, protect, and add value to the Company's assets. This position is responsible for: * Fixed asset management, controls, and reporting. * Capital expenditure budgeting and reconciliation processes. * Real estate planning and administration. * Inventory management and control. *Financial forecasting, planning and analysis. Direct reports to the Director of Finance will include Inventory Control, Cylinder Control, Taxation, and Cash Applications. This position will advise and assist in the oversight of all financial activities including general accounting, cost accounting, and the development and maintenance of sound financial controls, procedures and standards. Specific Accountabilities: * Lead the annual budget process. * Manage the capital expenditure analysis and approval process. * Maintain the real estate database and manage the facility planning process. * Oversee all aspects of inventory control, cylinder control, and cash applications. * Develop and maintain a strong internal control environment through the documentation of policies and procedures, measurement processes and benchmarks, monitoring of performance and follow up with proper management to facilitate continuous improvement. * Ensure proper accounting systems and processes are in place and maintained in accordance with GAAP. * Recommend and implement policies and procedures to standardize regional practices. * Review and analyze key performance indicators and enhance variance reporting by district, branch, market, and product or other pertinent segmentations * Ensure accurate reports are distributed timely to the management team. * Manage customer profitability process including monitoring and updating activity-based costing elements. * Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree plus MBA or CPA required. * 8-10 years experience in finance and administration. * 3-5 years industry experience in retail or industrial distribution. * Prior experience in commercial real estate contracts and sales agreements. * Ability to effectively present information to all levels of management and employees. * Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. * Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, forecast, and draw valid conclusions. * Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical and financial data and to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. * Ability to engage in creative problem solving and effectively manage changes in processes and methodologies. * Positive, proactive individual with superior relationship building and problem solving skills. * Outstanding computer skills. * Strong verbal and written communications skills. * Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. * Process driven, self-motivated and detailed oriented. * Variable hours of work are critical to the success of this position. * Must have the ability to travel 15-20%. * Pre-employment and random drug testing applies. * No relocation assistance offered.
