Director of Finance
The Director of Finance will serve as the financial leader for the West Coast Business Units and Departments which include but are not limited to: Industrial Products(San Carlos, CA), Protein Production Division(Foster City, Ca), and Cellular Engineering (San Diego, CA) and will report directly to the Company’s Chief Financial Officer. This is a strategic role; incorporating business strategy with deft acumen of business needs and guidance. This position will work in tandem with the Division President to develop and execute the financial and operational plans of the Divisions. This role may assist in day-to-day management of other general and administrative responsibilities as needed; however, the role will primarily focus on the allocation and utilization of financial resources for the purpose of value creation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the development of all monthly budgeting and financial reporting systems and processes for the Division which enable the execution of Divisional goals
Critically analyze costs incurred and revise cashflow and P&L models to reflect actual resource utilization; continuously evaluate whether resources are being allocated and utilized to the greatest value creation opportunities
Assume responsibility for all financial reporting requirements with Third Parties as contractually required for all Divisional collaborative partnerships
Provide control and authorization concerning all purchases made for the Division, including preliminary vendor sourcing, vendor negotiations and continual vendor oversight
Ensure Divisional compliance with Corporate financial processes
Work in tandem with the Division head to monitor progress toward meeting Divisional goals/objectives
Ensure that Divisional employees have the appropriate resources, are held accountable for successfully meeting deadlines/budget requirements and take corrective action where appropriate
Perform financial modeling and projections, including cost-benefit analysis, ROI, etc. to support make/buy decisions within the Division
Serve as a financial partner to Division management and Legal when negotiating contracts where substantial payments are required and lead any purchasing negotiations
Prepare and present financial data to the Division and Corporate management as required for presentations, Board meetings, etc.
Liaise with other Divisions effectively and efficiently to ensure quick and accurate resolutions to financial concerns
May work with Business Development and portfolio leaders to ensure that product and market forecasts are indicative of the latest market research and competitive business intelligence
Work in tandem with the executive team with regards to mergers and acquisition activities involving West Coast Units and Operations
Job Requirements
Education:
Undergraduate degree in Finance/Accounting or related discipline required; MBA strongly preferred
Experience:
8 years relevant accounting or finance experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a biotechnology field;
Demonstrated leadership and management experience
Knowledge and experience in project management and a thorough understanding of project management processes and discipline
Significant financial budgeting and forecast modeling experience required
Experience with due diligence and M&A activities preferred

Ability and willingness to prioritize and realign priorities when situations change
