The Opportunity As a member of the Non-Traditional Research team, the individual will support personal and commercial lines through class plan development, advanced pricing, underwriting research, operations research, marketing analytics, and product innovation. The role will interact with our staff in Hartford, Simsbury, and Cambridge, MA.
The role involves heavy interaction with the various business segments; establishing working relationships, identifying and developing new work efforts, and overseeing the timely delivery of quality work. We seek candidates with strong analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and business acumen.
Responsibilities The primary responsibilities for the position will include the following: * Active Leader in the overall Research agenda. * Identify and develop new areas to apply predictive modeling and other advanced analytics across the enterprise * Perform underwriting research through the use of predictive modeling * Support a diverse mix of projects that require deep analysis and tools, including areas such as operations research, marketing analytics, and product innovation * Partner with IT to oversee implementation of work efforts Strategic Planning & Analysis Partner with business segments and other thought leaders to identify data/analytical opportunities and/or business opportunities that the group can support and help develop. Consult with business segments and IT to integrate findings with business strategies. Support the implementation and execution of business strategies tied to data products. WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION?
Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree or higher in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Quantitative Economics or other similar analytical field * 8-10 years experience in the P&C insurance industry with deep expertise in data/research and predictive modeling.
Competencies * Advanced subject matter expertise in insurance data modeling * Strong leadership and influencing skills * Strong strategic thinking and exceptional analytical capability * Strong verbal/written communication skills; Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels across the organization * Results-oriented. Demonstrates a sense of urgency and accountability for business issues. * Customer focused. Builds effective relationships with internal partners, including actuarial, underwriting, operations, and information technology * Innovative. Seeks new and creative ways to approach analytical exercises and development projects. * Requires sophisticated business acumen in order to successfully translate complex technical topics into business solutions and strategies.
