Position Summary: The Director of Planning & Analysis will be responsible for understanding the business unit needs and various operational cost areas, and the associated information, analysis, and specific reports needed to make effective decisions. This entails support and analysis on operational efficiencies, cost implications, purchasing optimization, and other improvement opportunities. Essential Functions: 1. Financial Reporting & Decision Making (60%) . Responsible for the preparation, review and on going monitoring of budgets, forecasts, strategic plans and other financial data to assist management with current and long range planning . Sets the standards for sharing best practices across all TruGreen departments and is responsible for all financial control, analysis and support of corporate FP&A . Leads the work to align TG budget and strategic plans brand volume and trade support objectives with SVM objectives . Serve as a key resource to the TG Senior Team in evaluating financial issues and providing the necessary solutions and recommendations, providing analytic support to the TG President/CFO as needed . Develop methodologies for analyses, design and implement strategic analyses . Manage a team of financial analysts and programmers . Assist in writing complex business rules to provide additional reporting capabilities . Review financial data and conduct financial analysis, if required . Provide support for integrating BU-level acquisitions . Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as required by TG President, CFO, and other TG leaders . Design, develop and deliver analytical training for FP&A personnel 2. Process Improvement (20%) . Enhance and maintain Cognos financial budgeting and consolidation models . Assist in writing complex business rules to provide additional reporting capabilities 3. Development of Systems (10%) . Partner w/ IT on development of the Cognos system to support and enhance the Cognos and Cognos Controller application for the TG Finance and Accounting department, as well as TG wide implications and responsibility . Re-engineer the budget and forecast process in conjunction with utilizing Cognos financial budgeting and consolidation models . Partner with IT to source, manipulate and upload data from other Finance and Accounting systems used in the organization . Work closely with IT to coordinate server upgrades, server patches, software upgrades, backups and maintenance to support Cognos transition as they apply specifically to TG . Key TG Interface with IT to ensure Cognos adherence to standards and integration with Cognos platform 4. Development of Associates (10%) . Lead the development of the TG FP&A Team. Ensure that department is consistently meeting the needs of the division . Lead the design, development & implementation of entity wide employee development plans & succession planning . Lead staff of knowledge experts in all aspects of department Requirements: . Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, Economics or Math - MBA preferred, CPA or other professional qualification is a plus . 7-10 years in the Financial Planning (preferably with TM1); knowledge of Cognos Controller a plus; knowledge of other Financial Planning & Budgeting applications (Hyperion and Oracle) is a plus . Working knowledge of finance and accounting processes and principals . Demonstrated knowledge of financial statement analysis, income statement, balance sheet and cash flow . Demonstrated ability to accurately model the financial aspects and outcomes of business issues using spreadsheets and/or other applicable tools . Knowledge of JD Edwards accounting software is a plus . Excellent knowledge and understanding of financial modeling . Strong presentation, verbal and written skills are a must as the individual will be expected to participate in communications with senior management and the broader organization . Highly-motivated, self-started with good project management skills and ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities . Keen analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to learn new systems and processes quickly . Ability to understand financial and related operational data, synthesize results, then develop and prioritize actionable insights and recommendations to make intelligent operational decisions driving efficiency and cost savings . Ability to work well independently and in collaboration with others . Consultative and collaborative approach with demonstrated ability to act as a true business partner . Experience in a division FP&A leadership role is a plus
