Main Duties Barclays Wealth has embarked on a strategic campaign to elevate its positioning as a leading global investment house, internally and externally. Critical to that strategic intent is the creation of compelling investment messages and the delivery of those messages in highly impactful ways. The Global Research & Investments (GR&I) organization?both the Research (RES) organization and the Global Banking and Investment Services (GBIS) organization?is central to delivering this initiative and is, as a result, dramatically overhauling its communications focus, approach, and capabilities. This position is meant to play a pivotal role in upgrading the overall quality of what is produced. In the near-term the priority is the Research organization?s output, but the scope must embrace the GBIS organization as well, in part to ensure that the connectivity between RES and GBIS, between insight and execution, is crisp and clear, and in part to enhance the quality of the GBIS product and service positioning. The Manager of GR&I Editorial and Publishing is a new position that is critical to advancing GR&I?s delivery of the strategy. Key accountabilities / responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ? Working with a representative of BW Global MCE who manages processes, each of the functional heads across GR&I who support messaging and business priorities, GR&I Marketing leads who bring specific subject matter expertise, and the Head of GR&I Marketing & Communications, formulate and execute GR&I Communications Strategies and Plans ? Lead the message definition and editorial execution of strategic communications across multiple media vehicles throughout GR&I ? Being an agent of change, challenge the current line-up of communications and leading the evolution in the GR&I communications vehicles, across multiple media forms ? Identify and manage needed editorial capabilities?from writing to proofreading?both inhouse and through external parties ? Serve as lead global editor on high-impact strategic communications, defining content agenda and tone, and reviewing others? work ? Work with central PR team to refine messages and content for press consumption ? Develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships within the investment, product and research organizations, to implement communications strategies, plans and materials ? Provide messaging advice and challenge as appropriate, identifying internal and external communications issues and resolving as appropriate ? Support the scoping and defining of communication requirements, providing advice on strategic internal communication issues ? Partner with GR&I thought leaders in research and product to create content/messages ? Write effective communications in a variety of styles i.e. announcements, proposals, newsletters, video briefs, using the correct house style. Messaging should be aligned to Barclays Wealth messages. Manage sign off and approval processes ? Regularly check the effectiveness of communications and take necessary steps for improvement
Person Requirements Basic Qualifications:
* BA / BS degree required * 10+ years marketing communications experience within a Wealth Management or Investment Management organization * 5+ years of communications strategy development & execution experience Preferred Qualifications:
* Good understanding of Investment Products and Wealth Management concerns/topics * Strong communication skills: writing and creating clear messages * Stakeholder management skills, including facilitation, negotiation and influencing * Research and Product Communications experience preferred * Planning, organization and co-ordination skills * Problem solving skills * Advanced level PC Skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint are particularly important)
