Legg Mason Investments, based in Miami, FL is part of Legg Mason, Inc. a global asset management firm providing institutional investors located in the Caribbean, Central and South American region, and Europe with strong investment capabilities through its range of asset management subsidiaries, which act as autonomous companies retaining the independence of their individual investment styles and their unique cultures.
We are currently looking to fill the Director of Business Development position in New York.
Responsibilities: * Develop relationships with Financial Advisors, private bankers, and other institutional clients as a means to market and service Legg Mason International Distribution investment solutions * Manage client/prospect interactions through all phases of the relationship cycle (acquisition, sales, and retention). * Assume ownership of a book of client relationships, developing a strategic plan for AUM growth, * Support strategic marketing initiatives on a corporate and divisional level (across international regions) * Work as a partner with Marketing, Key Accounts, Product Specialists and Legg Mason's investment affiliates to implement LMID's business strategy. * Develop and enhance industry, markets, and product knowledge in order to effectively communicate and build credibility with financial advisors. * Deliver effective presentations to external audiences to promote Legg Mason Funds products, services and competitive advantages (i.e. conference calls, presentations, etc). * Other duties as assigned.
Ideal Qualifications and Experience: * Strong track record within asset management sales * CFA desirable * Strong investment background required and exceptional client relationship skills * Experience in dealing with sophisticated investors from a variety of backgrounds * Ideally previous international (i.e. beyond US) experience. * Very entrepreneurial mindset, with a commercial capability to surface opportunities * Strong team player who works effectively in an open, non hierarchical environment. * Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across broad spectrum of cultures and professional disciplines. * Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to present ideas to a broad audience. * Intellectual curiosity about Asset Management industry and best practice solutions. * Excellent research, problem solving and influencing skills with ability to recommend and 'sell' sound, pragmatic solutions. * Helicopter vision to consider big picture issues and manage solutions through at a detailed level. * Self starter displaying vision, energy and passion for building the brand internationally. * Naturally well organized. * Bachelor's degree in finance, economics or business management. * Knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese is desired but not required.
