MTSI is seeking a mid- to senior-level data engineer with extensive knowledge in one or more of USSTRATCOM’s assigned Unified Command Plan (UCP) mission areas to support research and technical analysis to promote the understanding of emerging global threats and disruptive technology. This includes applying mission area knowledge toward all-source collection, analysis, and evaluation of foreign political conditions, scientific trends, and/or military forces that affect national security. Duties include: designing/planning/implementing customer solution; applying the appropriate application to meet customer’s requirements; and providing feedback directly to the customer. Additionally, applicant will be part of the team effort to document and formalize additional training requirements to further improve technical analysis.
Tasks to be performed include, but are not limited to:
* Understand customer’s requirements and apply vigorous search methods to locate desired data through all-source research
* Download data sets and structure data in the proper format for the appropriate data application
* Research existing and new sources of technical and commercial information and develop/document methods for data extraction and formatting into data applications
* Provide demonstrations on advanced analytical methods as directed by customer
* Provide oversight and training to junior members of the teams
* Provide on-site support for data mining and analysis to working groups, conferences, scientific panels, and other forums as directed by the customer
* Conduct studies and analysis tasks as directed by J9 or other COCOM staff requests
* Research new tools/applications and evaluate new databases/subscriptions for potential use in applied analytical assessments
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Experience with joint operations and processes from the unit- to national-level
* Demonstrated experience in one or more of USSTRATCOM’s UCP mission areas and familiarity in other USSTRATCOM UCP mission areas
* Demonstrated experience with spreadsheets, macros, and writing/employing scripts for data extraction and data structure
* Demonstrated knowledge of research and search capabilities
* Extensive experience with graphical visualization applications, such as Mind Map, Threat View, and BAT
* Strong written and oral communication skills
* Strong experience with Microsoft Office products
* Ability to conduct independent research and work (individually, or as part of a small team)
* Science and Technology (S&T) experience
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Knowledge and experience with data mining, data analysis, and trend analysis, 8+ years work experience
* Knowledge with open source data and searches, to include Boolean searching
* Experience within IC and/or Department of Defense
* Research and Development experience
* Basic and Applied research experience
* S&T publication record
* Broad technical experiences in multiple fields
Educational Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree (science, engineering, mathematics or statistics), highly desired
* Master’s degree (science, engineering, mathematics or statistics), desired
Clearance Requirements:
* TOP SECRET security clearance with an in scope SSBI required
* Intelligence Community access and badge is highly desired
